EDIT: Just checked and the C43 Coupe preliminary info lists the Performance Exhaust as a stand-alone option, so good chance it is coming across the C43 line.
****. If that's the case I might back out of my C450 order.

I do remember someone on here saying they sat in the C43 at the auto show and it didn't have the exhaust button though, so in wondering if it's just an error on the website build.

Guess I'll have to wait and see.

The configurator on the swedish site says:
C 450 AMG 4MATIC Sedan, 7G-tronic plus and states 0-100 km/h at 4,9 s.

Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Sedan, 9G-tronic and 0-100 km/h at 4,7 s.

Both listed with the same price.

We'll, if true, I need to eat crow, as I stated the transmission wasn't the only reason for the coupe being .2 seconds quicker. Color me very surprised.

Still picking up the c450 this week. Wife is done waiting...

I'm inching closer and closer to calling my dealer to tell him my C450 order is off... a lot of it is going to depend on the outcome of the Performance Exhaust and how it differs from the exhaust on the C450.

My understanding is that standard AMG exhausts have 2 resonators, and when optional Performance versions are available they only have 1. I believe the AMG Sport Exhaust on the C450 only has one, so I'm thinking it might be the same exhaust under a different name...the Performance Exhaust would just also include the ability to be switched on or off, with the Sport exhaust is just always on if you're in Sport or Sport+ mode. For me, I'll only drive the car in Sport+ (or Individual mode, which will be configured to mirror Comfort Mode but also with Sport+ exhaust), so the ability to switch it on or off doesn't matter to me...I just don't want it to sound way better than the C450 exhaust, because that paired with the 9 speed is probably enough for me to just say f*ck it and wait a few more months (especially considering I could get the Designo Grey Magno exterior).

Just wait. You wont regret it. Its only a couple months, sure u wont get to drive it this spring/summer but theres another spring summer coming next year. I think the feeling of a newer C43 with more options and features will outweigh getting the C450 Now. Delayed satisfaction vs instant gratification is what they say?

For sure, I'm already mentally preparing for it. If the C43 doesn't have an improved Performance exhaust option, I won't really care enough to wait for it and I'll just take the C450 for 3 years -- IDGAF (or that much of one) about the 9 speed, and I can live with the Steel Grey instead of the matte grey paint.

One thing the C450 has going for it is the Designo Saddle Brown interior with the white cross stitching, haven't seen that on any 2016's yet...I'm in love with the look of that interior. Not sure if the C43 will end up getting it or not...or if that interior style is done for.

Well I think I'll definitely wait for the c43, especially since my dealer is promising the same discount as he was giving me on the c450. But that remains to be seen; hopefully I won't get the runaround (like you did when you spoke to the finance guy) when it comes picking up the car.
I also want the saddle brown interior (love the lux look of it). If the c43 doesn't come with it, more thinking...

AMG Performance Exhaust option from the German site, translated:

Summary
About 3 variably adjustable exhaust valves , the sound at the selected travel program adapts . In addition, the driver can change the sound characteristics of a button. So it is a maximum spread of noise , from comfortable to highly emotional , allows .

Now the question is: does the highest audible level equal the exhaust on the C450 in Sport+ mode? Or does it exceed it? That is what would be the make or break for me.

German site shows the C43 with the Designo Saddle Brown, so I'm assuming it is an option...it's just missing on the UK site.

Sounds pretty good, a bit more growl it seems, but I'm no expert on the exhaust sound of the C450.

I like everything about the c43 except for the 9 speed transmission.. I wonder if they can put the 7g from my car into the c43 at trade in? I had a BMW 335xi and I hated the 8 speed!! Too many gears and I always drive in manual mode.. What up with all the stupid gears..I would prefer if they made a 6g instead of 9g

It sounds the same. When the C450 holds the gears its quite rowdy stock and all

Got it. I'm confused on the Performance Exhaust add-on on the German/UK sites at the moment (also listed on the media quick guide linked below), it's being listed as an optional add-on, but all of the videos of the C43 from Geneva/NY clearly show the middle console and there is no "Performance Exhaust" button like there is on the C63. No idea how you would control a "controllable exhaust" without a button for it. Also, to make things more confusing, when you get to the final screen on the German site it shows the exhaust system and refers to it as the "sport exhaust". Maybe it's just the same old exhaust from the C450 but now they charge to have it...god that would be stupid, but who knows. Wouldn't put it past MB.

9G transmission isn't really a massive priority for me. The new US packaging is a bit of a wash too...there are some upsides (pano roof and Burmeister being standard), having to get the Premium 3 package just to get the dynamic headlights sucks. Being able to get it in the Designo Selenite Matte Grey would be sick, but I'm sure there is a huge cost associated with that.

Making a decision shouldn't be this difficult....

https://www.mbca.org/2017-mercedes-a...eference-guide

edit: the C63 exhaust is called the "Dynamic Performance Exhaust", which is different than what the C43s exhaust is being called, which would explain the lack of a button like in the C63.

Exhaust

I'm pretty sure it will be the same but they will charge for it similar to the CLA 45 and the GLA 45.

I believe some of the detail from last month indicated that the beauty of the 9g was that they built it into the same size of the 7g, so it's easy for them to select and build per $$, region, specs, performance, etc.

If you buy the C43 and pay them to install the engine, it's probably a possibility...but it's difficult to speculate how easy/feasible that is without having the full details on the 9G's design relative to the 7G's. I'm sure there would be some way for it to be rigged to work though, with enough time, capital, and creativity.

Thanks!

Not delivering before three months, expecting to have a more accurate build/delivery date by tomorrow.
The dealer have had a hard time these days because the software change/year model procedure (or something like that), a yearly dealers thing which is taken place right now.

i have a c450 now but it got in a fender bender and I don't like to keep cars that were in accidents no matter how small.. I love the car but want the c43 but want to keep the 7g.. I hate having more gears.. I would prefer a 6g if they made one
