Those tend to creak quite a bit and can easily be misheard.
Thanks for the suggestion. I ordered the lubricant and applied to the sunroof and front passenger door and creak is gone. I'll be interested in seeing how long it lasts but for now very pleased.

Krytox works like a charm on glass seals! No creaks coming from windows anymore.

Does anyone know how to get rid of creaks from the door panels and other plastic seams? I just had a really loud creak start from my command screen last night that was so sensitive that acceleration caused the plastic to creak. I'm going nuts with the constant creaks and the dealer is looking at me like I'm crazy to think a 50+k car should be quiete. I just ordered the lubricant but so many of my crake come from the interior panels. Any help is appreciated.

I know this is not the answer you're expecting but changing the run flat tires to non-RF helps a lot mate! I tested with Michelin last week and the smoother ride worked wonders on all squeaks. While the tires don't look that nice it was a completely different feeling inside the car.

On the amg line car there is loads of extra plastics on the dash which click and creak. I've fixed most with felt.

Adding myself to the club. My 2015 C300, at 7K miles, has started creaking, esp on driver door trim while driving.

Did you have to take the dash apart?

Double the business about going non run flat. Smoother ride means less stuff jiggling around inside. Obviously a new Mercedes designed for run flats shouldn't creak in the first place, but the Michelin PSS take the car to another level.

Hi Mike,

I read you got the Mich PPS a short while back..
I am running and stuck with for the time being the Conti SSR MOE 19's.. firm is apt.. hi performing no doubt, BUT your postings on the PSS is making me wanna thrash the Conti's to force the change.. (which i can't afford.. )

I can appreciate the difference though as on last c class the tyre place incorrectly fitted continental Contimaxcontact 5 tyres which were massivley smoother and softer than the sportcontact 5's.. i had them pull them off and fit the correct tyres but it was an eye openning back to back comparison.. (and that was all non runflat)..

No I simply forced felt between gaps with a knife.

Can anyone think of a downside to trying this... I.e. Voiding warranty or damaging the panels? Thanks

It's what the dealer does, only they also take it all apart creating more problems.

Well at 3k miles I got the dreaded creaking dash. After some investigation I hunted it down to three locations:

Drivers side end dash board where the upper and lower dash meet. Same on the passenger side.

Upper edge of gauge binnacle where the hard plastic meets the MBTex upper dash.

I had some speaker-sealing foam tape, 3/8 wide, by 1/8th thick on hand and used a butter knife to work it in between those panels until it was no longer visible.

The dash binnacle top pries away pretty easily, so I think that was the main culprit. I packed that seam until there was more tension and no play between them.

I think the felt mentioned earlier would be a better choice for material as far as being easy to work with, but same general idea.

I was also getting an occasional buzz from the dash center speaker. I popped the cover (butter knife and lift) placed sections of foam tape around the perimeter of the cover's underside and that seemed to take the "play" out of it as well.

My 16 C300 built in South Africa is completely silent while driving. There was a rattle right away that was actually my garage door opener I had in it before I programmed it. I'm completeky happy with mine.

I don't think it's a build quality issue, more a general design flaw. Not a big deal unless you have to tear the car apart to fix it. I do know that certain plants have modified build systems, so maybe the plant in Vance is more susceptible to dash creaks after all.

Winter has hit us down under and the creaks have got louder.

Had my car in the dealer today. Service advisor said that there is a known issue with the seals and MB is working on a global solution. They had taped parts of the door prior but the creaking returned.

More annoying is that my dear creaks while I drive. Apparently they don't have the tool to take off the back of the chair so had to order it from Germany. Apparently they broke another customer's chair trying to fix it :s

FWIW: My C450 is in for creaks as well as door trim wood popping off on one end. I didn't realize how many noises there was until I got my loaner car.

The loaner car is a 2017 C300 Coupe. It has 700 miles.

My car has 650 miles.

I called the SA back after 30 min of driving the loaner to say hey listen, my car REALLY makes some noise. Now I know some of the noise is the trim piece, but my speaker/ speaker grills (Burmester sound), make noise as well.. I gave them the speaker holder part number (ornament holder or w/e its called from the other thread).

BTW my car has 18s and the loaner car has 18s - SAME TIRES.

So I hope they can fix the rattles/noises.

I don't want to be that guy because I do think there is probably a different logical 'splanation but the coupe is made in Germany...

I like the car, but it's also a test for me for the C63, which I would love to have but was concerned about spending $83,000 on a C Class. I'll put up with some minor build/design issues in the C300 or C43 but I don't think the platform itself is up to snuff to build an $80k car around.

I agree that it seems like there are some underlying structural elements that keep this car very identifiable as of its class. That's not bad on its own because when I've driven one, I've been impressed by its fleet footedness. But as has been discussed in the past, gone are the days when an 80k car could deservedly be built from a W20x chassis. When I've driven 205s, the impression I come away with is that of having driven an upmarket car with fantastic interior appointments. But not quite A Mercedes.

This is probably somewhat true. But my e63 rear bumper is also malaligned like my c class, but the e has no creaks.

My creaks have gone away by itself on the C, but I am pretty sure they will come back when it gets cold again......
