Realistically, how much % should I get off on a demo and what fees can be waived?

I visited my local MB dealer in Canada and we found a 2016 C300 4Matic with 9000 km. The rep said it was the sales managers car and not an actual demo for customers(which is better than normal loaners that gets ripped on by customers).

The rep gave me $4000 off, which seems a little low. How much off MSRP should I aim for? This is the breakdown he gave me.

C300 4M Sedan - $43,800
MP1 - Premum Package - $3,700
MP2 - Premium Package Plus - $2,400
MSP - Sports Package - $1,500
MET - Metallic Paint - $890
736 - Open-Pore Dark Ash Wood trim - $250
632 - Static LED High Performance Lighting System $900
51U - Black Fabric Roof Liner - $0

Total MSRP $53,440.00
Less: $4,000 Discount
Sale Price: $49,440.00

Dealer Options and Charges
All-season floor mats/passenger - $88.40
All Season floor mats - rear - $65.50
Paint Protection $599.00
Documentation Fee : $595.00
Federal Air Condition Levy $100
Advance Disposal Fee - 4 Tires $20
Total Sale Price: $53, 202.90 BEFORE taxes.

(All numbers are in CAD)

How much off MSRP should I aim for and what would be normal for a demo car?

From the "Dealer Options and Charges", which fees are mandatory and which fees can be waived?

Your thoughts of the car/options overall?

Thanks everyone! Planning to meet with them tomorrow, so your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated!

not sure how it works out in CAD and if you are leasing or financing.

however, in US dollars, my MSRP was $54k. after all discounts my car ended up being $47.7k. ZERO miles (well, it had 64 miles when i drove it out of the dealership).

and they threw in:

3 year prepaid maintenance
all season floormats (in addition to the sports package AMG floormats).

You should be able to get more than that. And don't get ripped off by the dealer options.

Check for invoice price using sites like carcostcanada.com or unhaggle.

Here's some info on this on youtube.

Seems way to high $$$ for a demo basically at the end of the model year. I got a bigger discount plus 4 years free maintenance when I bought mine last November.

The dealer add ons that can't be waived are the Doc Fee, AC Levy, Tire Disposal. The rest is negotiable. The discount is way too low. I ordered my '16 and they took 10% off MSRP on a build that came factory fresh with 3 miles on it.

agreed with others. You should get more discounts.

10% off for a brand new car seems to be the least you should get for a 2016 model. for a demo car that has 9000, I would not buy it even it's 15% off. I would shoot for 20% off AT LEAST.

I got 18% off of my (new) used car that had under 46 miles on it when I bought it. It was also CPO certified with an extra year warranty. $4K off is a joke

If your able to wait, try negotiating in sept close to the end of the month. Q3 is over at the end of September. Dealerships are more willing to make a deal near the end of the month , quarter and year. Lucky both are within 5 months from now and the 2017s are being pushed in while the 2016 are heavily discounted to make room. The longer you wait the better deal you possibly can get.

Just to metition:
Make sure you know what exactly your most and then likes in a car. On your end, you may have the luxury to wait, but the car with the features you like maybe low in stock in your area which may cause a dilemma.
Just Don't wait too long cause once those models with those features run out, that's it no more.

I wouldn'tnecessarily believe a word they say re it being a dealers car..

First dealer lend their cars to customers for service support as and when its needed...

Second dealers turn these cars over every couple of months, so don't think for one minute they would have any attachment to one and therefore care for it.. the opposite is more likely true.. treat it like crap and let the service team sort it out before its flicked...

End result as likely flogged as any other second hand car.

Next point is its a second hand car... have a look at what a 1 year old second hand car would be on provite sale.. it will be more a few grand off retail list for sure...

the inclusive services are worth bugger all.. they use fleet oil and filters and some aspects on a proviate service are discretional eg wiper blades.. ie there are differences and exclusions relative to a rrp service it seems.. check careflully what they are "including"...

The warranty is factory and nothing to do with them.. they are doing no favors in offering that UNLESS its free and extended.. even then confirm what exactly is and importanly IS NOT included..

The pre-sale "mercedes 6 million point check" is worth less than a privately paid vehicle inspection, many issues a careful and detailed owner would pick up on are glossed over... their checks are only that items are present and correct.. (the service team staff ar emotivated to get the car tick and flicked, a provate inspection is not.. ) not necessarily the condition.. you ought inspect the care very carefully before signing off and have all visual defects you care about written down and negotiate them being addressed... Be prepared to reject the car if they do not complete to the written agreement and walk away until they fix it..

And finally ask to see the vehicle service and warranty works register... ie a copy of everything they have on record for the car.. what recalls have been performed etc...

With all of this you will at least know what you are getting into....

This may all sound excessive but the point is.. treat the dealership exactly as you would a private car sale from someone you have never met before and trust them equally....

I won't get into why i make all these points.. just learn from the mistakes of others..

Best of luck...

Discounts from MSRP appear to be a bit lower for CND sales. Regardless, the car has 9k kilometers on it so it's a used car. The discount should be much higher.
