Upgrade static LED to ILS LED lights just for look?

Hey guys, I'm setting out on another endeavour, upgrading my LED lights to ILS LED. Now, for those who are familiar with what I did, I upgraded my halogen car to static LED. Now that it worked, I want the ILS as they look great both on and off. Plus, the light coverage at night is tremendous and I think it makes driving safer. Of course, it won't be able to move like the real thing. I just want them to light up. Nothing fancy. I just don't know if the look is worth it. I found one pair on Ebay for just $150. Would you pay $150 just to get the look of the ILS?

$150 is a drop in the bucket and it can always be resold if it doesn't work. Plus if anyone can make it work it's you!

I have a very small bucket, so that drop could turn out to be a huge leak
Once I start the "surgery" on it, I don't think it can be resold. Plus, who would buy these things? We all know it's not plug-n-play. It's just that I don't know if you guys think the look is better than the static one and thus worth the trouble. I personally think it's better. But I don't know if I'm being biased or being addicted to Mercedes LED

I think it looks way better. I think MB should be ASHAMED to force it to be included in only top premium packages that include distronic (don't need, roads too crappy to use it anyway). First see how much "surgery" is required to power that second LED.

If not much surgery is needed someone who's taken a stone to their ILS lamp and needs a replacement might ****** it up.

Surgery is very similar to the one I did. The second eye (LED) is just the high beam. I just might have to turn on high beam all the time to feed that second LED. So I don't really anticipate failure. Just don't know if I should do it.
If liability wasn't an issue, I would have done it for all the guys who asked me for help. One guy from Canada even offered to pay me to have them done, then shipped back to him I think MB really sucks for allowing halogen lights on this car. Static LED should be at least the standard.

If you already have static LED, you still would?

Yes I think so. Even without the adaptive movement I bet they are going to give you better illumination and they just look cool.

Come on man...you know you can't help yourself.
What's one more mod gonna hurt?
You can stop whenever you want to....

I see light at the end of the...cable Gosh, the trial and error of trying pin by pin is really painful and exciting at the same time. Painful because there are so many different permutation of - and + . Yet, it's exciting when it lights up. The low beam works now.

Getting them ready...they come with scratches all over the place. Most people wouldn't want to buy these lights if they see how they are in person. But it's amazing what a fine sand paper can do.

Seal it up...There are no caps for these holes, so I cut out some really thick book cover to cover them up. Not exactly a perfect material, but lack of resource called for creativity

For waterproofing, I covered the whole "cap" with silicone.

Each headlight has 3 tabs with holes so it can be screwed in. It's to keep the headlight secure in one place. This one has no tab. All were broken off. So, I "retrofit" one using a door jamb metal plate :-) Again, not exactly an ideal part, but desperate situation called for desperate measure.

Seriously? $150 is a consequential amount of money for you?

Sorry, I know I'm not your mother, and you probably don't appreciate this, but quit modifying your car. In fact, I would go as far to say, sell your Mercedes, and buy something more practical for your budget.

Sorry, but people over-extending themselves bugs the hell out of me. Especially when it's on something as vain and depreciative as an automobile.
