Speaker Distortion 2015 C400
I thought I would update the forum on a challenging issue I had with my new 2015 C400 since I bought it. Had it looked at 5x by two different dealers. Bit of a unique issue and resolution. Possibly a design defect. The issue was with distortion coming from speakers mostly on the passenger side. It was most recognizable when listening to a phone call on Bluetooth or in certain parts of songs where the mids and highs occur. It was quite bothersome to me so I figured it must be fixable. The first 3 attempts to repair were replacing speakers on the passenger doors. Did not fix it. This last attempt the dealer seemed to fix it. Their notes in the service receipt were as follows. Hopefully others find this helpful and can eliminate multiple service visits and frustration.
Noise from front door trim and rear. Door trim speaker covers and clips that hold door trims to door panels. Tried repairing the wood trim panel but didn't fix issue. Replace with new wood trims 72-0000 2.3 72-7156 0.3 72-7156 .03 72-7158 .03 removed both front door wood trim with speaker covers. Added felt tape to all clips and contact points of all door trims.
