2015 C300 door ajar warning
Other day 2nd row driver side door was not closed properly and it swing open when backing up. No door ajar warning and the door hit a box in the garage and the hinge cracked. Now Mercedes service is asking for $1,000 to replace the door hinges. I have been driving Toyota and Honda for long time. First luxury car but yet simple warning is not there. I tested it by opening the door and driving and it took a while for the ajar warning to appear.
Tested a cla250 and the door warning appears immediate when the engine is on and the door is opened. Why is there a diacrepancy? Why mercedes has this feature in cla250 but not in c300. With kids I am worried if they did not close the door properly and I have to drive to find out the door is not closed then there is definitely a safety issue. Anyone in the same boat?

These cars have the most bizarre and confusing warning lights I've ever seen. There is no warning for open doors, or the trunk. When there is a warning, it's usually after the car is in motion and then so general that you have to figure out what it's trying to warn you about. Simple warning lights are so basic, I can't figure out how this system ever got into a production car.

Actually, this has been discussed before but worth discussing again.
Has anyone filed a dealer report to complain?
Maybe it's actually NOT supposed top do this and Mercedes doesn't realize it effects all cars inn our line!!!
I mean this is a basic warning in even the cheapest cars since the 90s.

I sympathize with you on this cause I know what it is to depend on technology.
That being said , you left a door open then proceeded to drive through an object and somehow you manage to blame your dealership for it ?
I apologize since this might be annoying but I would be ashamed to discuss this while asking for free repairs, I would complain then pay for the damages.
You left the door open then drove , let that sink in.
you gotta child proof the car if you think they might do something dangerous.
