DIY Replace c300 brakes

my car just hit 30k and i feel a vibration on the road when im pressing the brakes leading me to think by pads and rotors are going out. I have been able to find DIY for C63s but not for a regular c300 Amg model. Does anyone know the proccess? my father is a mechanic and wanted to show him a tutorial video? thanks

If he's a mechanic, and he's ever changed brakes before, he should be fine. There's no magic to it.

That's only for the rear, you have to release the electronic parking brake so you can push it back.

Only replace what's worn down, the fronts normally wear much faster than the rears, if the rear is fine, leave it be.

Yes, you need to go into the service menu, and use the selections to move the parking brakes to service position if you intend to compress the rear calipers to fit new pads.

Myself and I think others on this forum have observed that the rear brakes seem to wear more quickly than the fronts. I have owned and maintained many vehicles but this is the first that I have had that does this, some have suggested that the cause is the stability control system.
If you need to replace the rears then there are video instructions on YouTube on how to access the maintainance pages and then electrically retract the caliper
Best of luck, I'll be doing mine sometime soon too

Agree, only replace what needs to be replaced. Inspect your rears and see how much life is on them still. No need to replace them if they have plenty of meat left. I do rotors and pads to compliment each other at the same time. We don't have any W205 tutorials, but if you need any parts assistance please let me know. If you do document the process we would love to add it to our technical library, and even give you a discount on parts if we use it. What brake pads did you end up using? Anyone know if brake pads advertised for 2015 c350 work for the 2015 c300?

No.... C350 brake pads do NOT work for C300 - and for your 2015 C300 there are TWO different brake pad sets depending on sub-model - so check with MB part dept for correct MB part # - then shop for correct equivalent

I had that message come up when I had my parking brake engaged. I thought it was messed up because my parking brake light was On but the brake wasnt ACTUALLY on. I fixed it but having the car roll a bit (2-3mph), then flicking on the parking brake switch. I think that moved things in place because I was able to then actually disengage the parking brake and the light cleared. weird stuff.

This was after I had a dealer replace my rear brake pads for free.
Some reason the parking brake light came on and wouldn’t go back off until I did what I mentioned above.

The mechanics like using the computer tablet thing that I’m not sure what it’s called. I had to go to three different mechanics until one of them had an up to date tablet to disengage the parking brake. I told them about the way to do it shown on the YouTube video, but they insisted of using the computer. I think that’s what messed it up once the rear brake pads were replaced. Lucky I was able to fix it. I definitely recommend taking to the official Mercedes dealer if your is 2015 and up and can’t figure it out.

Do do you get any messages on your dash when you start the car? Also, do you have the parking brake on when you’re trying to do it?

I just did mine last weekend and after watching a video online I was able to manipulate my parking break without any issues. I'm really not sure what caused your issue but at least you figured it out.

I had the same issue and found a correct procedure as follows. I have added step 1.1:

1. Turn the ignition to Position 1.

1.1 Release the parking brake, if it is active

2. Make sure the mileage is displayed in the dash center window

3. Don't wait very long before accomplishing the next step: Push the far right "telephone accept call" button on the steering wheel, then push the "OK" button on the left and hold both down for 5 seconds or so.

4. The workshop menu should appear.

5. Scroll down to "Pad replacement" and push OK.

6. Choose OK for "Moving to fitting position"
