Replacement Tire Recommendations? Alignment?
Hi guys,
I have a 2015 C300 4Matic sport that has reached 30k miles. I had the wrist pin repair done about 5k miles ago and the dealership noticed that the passenger tire was almost completely worn due to the car being out of alignment. As part of the wrist pin repair, they put the car on the alignment rack but still obviously recommended I change out the tires.
I was looking to replace all four tires with non-runflats to get rid of the rough ride/excess tire noise.. I wanted to ask for recommendations on tire replacement brands and locations. Since I am located in the Bay Area, where it rarely rains and never snows, which type of tires would be the most cost effective and who has the best deals? Also, do you think I should be checking the alignment once again to ensure they don't wear unevenly once again?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

In terms of all season tires, I chose Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus based on price. There are lots of options for all season non-runflat tires, and between the cinturato p7+, michelin crossclimates, vredesteins quatracs, and the goodyear assurance weatherready, the pirellis were rated as the quietest and had the highest treadwear rating. See tirerack’s review of the all season touring tires here. In terms of summer tires, I’d go michelin pilot sport 4s and not look back!

Oh, and regarding getting an alignment- if your prior tires wore unevenly, it would be best to get it done asap. Consider it a way to protect your investment in new tires.

Not a new question
See the thread "Non Run flat tires" for previous discussions of this topic. Also "pirelli run flat tires?" As for me, in July, I had to replace my Pirelli P7 RFTs after only 13,600 miles, because the MB factory had screwed up the toe-in on the rear wheels. I went with Michelin Premier A/S non-run-flats. My Luxury trim C300 was running full-height sidewalls on 17" wheels. So I was not unhappy with the ride, nor had I broken any wheels. Nonetheless, the Michelins improved the ride and handling so much that the car is now the luxury sport sedan that I wanted.
As I wrote on the "pirelli run flat tires?" thread (which I just located), "UPDATE on the new Michelin Premier A/S's that I described in my post of 6/19/18: I finally got to drive on my most hated local road. It is a narrow, winding, slightly hilly road that has been patched so endlessly that it is scheduled to be completely repaved later this summer. Where it is not patched, heavy trucks have pushed the asphalt into waves. The difference is not dramatic, but now I don't have to slow down when my wife is with me. The vibration over patched surfaces like this is now more like a distant rumble. Best of all, I can now feel the road! Steering inputs are instant, and, perhaps because of less vibration from the broken surfaces, I can feel steering pressure changes from the road back up through the steering. Before these tires, I considered my C300 to be a family sedan, not a sport sedan. I liked TRAVELING in it, but did not enjoy DRIVING it. Now I enjoy DRIVING it! I guess that is a dramatic difference, after all.

The oe equipped pirelli run flat tires are trash- they lasted all of 17k miles on our GLC, and they come with a 0 mileage warranty. Just to be clear, the non-runflat pirellis have a 70k treadwear warranty and the highest treadwear rating in the category.

Just had to replace my two rear Pirelli pzero run flats at 12,500 miles. I’ve had low profile high-performance tires ( but they were not run flats ) on other cars of mine which were Bridgestone and even at 20,000 miles never had to replace them. Pirelli pzeros tires are crap both the dealer and the tire business that I frequent here in Los Angeles told me that this is very common for the Pirelli Pzeros tires and for the C 300 sport sedan. By going to a private tire store I was able to save money from buying it at the dealer but it still sucks getting such little wear out of these rear tires. My front tires are still good according to both the dealer and business I Purchased my new tires from.

Mine will likely be getting a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ when the OE Contis wear out.
We have the Michelins on our Flex & they're a great, high performance, all season tire.

michelin as3+ and dws06 are very great choices. If you want a little more sporty feel, go with as3+. If you want a little more comfort, dws06. Both are very great tires though. Both do great in dry, wet and light snow.
