W205 C300 - stay away. Piston cracked at 65 K miles.

I have a 2017 C300 with the AMG package...20K exactly, regular oil and filter changes. A few days ago the check engine light came on as I was driving to the store, which is like 2 miles away. The car started shaking on idle and in gear and I turned around immediately and drove back home. I made an appointment and dropped it off at the local MB Dealership where I bought the car from. I had a text yesterday that the car has low pressure in Cylinder one and they need to further investigate the issue. How is that possible on a 2 year old Mercedes with only 20K miles???
I read some of the comments here about the 2015 C300 issues...but mine is a 2017....
The check engine light came on last month as well on the way to Tampa so I drove the car straight into the dealership there...they replaced the purge valve and reset the codes, then test drove the car for 12 miles. They said all issues were fixed! 50 miles later the check engine light came back on and the car is now at the local dealer with low pressure in cylinder one...
I am quite disappointed with my Mercedes ownership so far...I have had an ongoing issue with my command screen which Mercedes cannot fix because they say that there was a mismatch of parts in the factory in Alabama and my car was manufactured with the wrong size screen, which actually worked just fine for 2 years. They want to replace it with the small ugly screen which comes in the base models and I refused to accept that "fix". I do not understand how that could be even possible since I was told that all cars go through a very thorough inspection before they get shipped out to the dealers.
The factory tires were completely bald at 12K miles and even thread was showing on both rear tires. When I replaced the tires the shop told me that both my rear rims were defective and the inner edge of both rims was jumping up and down and was really hard to balance the tires, but they did.
Now I have a serious engine problem and I am sitting here scratching my head...Did I make a huge mistake buying a Mercedes made in Alabama???

Piston #1 crack issue on 2017 300GLC
My 2017 300GLC piston#1 crack during highway driving smoking out of tail pipe and vibration with loss of power. Not a good situation for my wife, pull over and towed to dealership.
After 2 days of inspection, confirmed cracked piston. What is odd is that this happened right after our 20k miles service by Mercede Dealer.

I am really sorry to hear that! I had cracked piston in cylinder one at 20K miles and the car had to stay at the dealership for 10 days for them to pull the engine out and rebuild that piston. I am so fortunate to be under warranty because I have heard horror stories from friends about that kind of serious repairs. Like on a Range Rover with 65K miles - 18,000 dollar engine swap right after the warranty expired! So my car has been in and out of the dealership about 6-7 times this summer for various issues and I am very annoyed with Mercedes! What happened with quality and reliability???

You know what needs to be done in case like this....Class Action Lawsuit....that is what we need so Mercedes starts looking into the problem! I had cracked piston in cylinder one at 20K miles and 2 years of ownership - and I paid good money to own this car, over $50K.....

I read that he M274 engine was designed by Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance and has been known to have issues! Plus it is one of the noisiest 4-cylinder engines out there, it is actually louder than a diesel engine! I do believe Mercedes fixed some of the issues but not until after 2017....I have a 2017 C300 and my engine had to be rebuilt this year because of a cracked piston in cylinder one, sound familiar? That was within just 2 years of ownership and exactly 20K miles. I am very disappointed with Mercedes and I am not planing on buying another one....not to mention C300s do not retain their value and the dealership only offered $21K for my car last month ( mine has the AMG package and it is loaded - MSRP was $52K only 2 years ago ). I had a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid before that and it depreciated less than the Mercedes and that is pretty sad!

I wonder how many other Mercedes owners have had the same or similar issue...you would think Mercedes would recall some of those cars for that kind of engine problem - this is major and costly!
I have a friend of mine with a 2010 E350 4matic with over 175K miles already - he has never done anything major and he does his oil changes at Walmart! The difference between his car and mine is the country of origin - mine came from Alabama, his was made in Germany!

It seems like the engines built before the mid 2015 wrist pin fix seem to crap out. I have a MY15 but the engine was replaced under the new car warranty with new one built at the very end of 2017. MB should be doing more about this. I’ve had other car manufacturers extend warranties on specific problems until like 15 years and unlimited miles from new(lexus did this) Maybe it’ll happen, who knows.

PATHETIC
This is the result of my pathetic 2015 W205 C300 4MATIC, CYLINDER 1 is cracked... needs a new engine at 70K miles... I've maintained oil changes every 3k miles... meticulously monitored my maintenance and was up to date on all specifications.
Mercedes won't pay for this... and this is going to cost me $10,000.... for a car that's fully optioned and MSRP at $52,000K this is pathetic. I will never buy a mercedes again.
Mercedes must stand for this wrist pin issue or i will start a LAWSUIT.

sorry this happened to you. It sounds like you’ve done a lot of modifications to your car and from your own post, attributing the modifications to why your piston cracked. I’ve got to say, I’ve considered mods but did not want to pay to play
