Easier said than done I’m sure. I’m going to consider trading it in at this point if I can’t get this done for a more affordable price.

What happened?

that all parts associated with the pano (glass motor both rails) will break in the processes and will need to be replaced. Now I doubt the glass will break but again this is the dealer we are talking about.

Front Rail
Thank you in advance

You need to replace the rails, there is no other simple fix. The factory process requires replacing the guide tubes for the cables and the motor if there is any sign of wear, but usually they can be re-used.

Tilted pano, won’t close
has anyone ever experienced this? I retracted my pano roof yesterday, and it opened just fine. When I went to close it, it made a creaking noise and retracted backwards when it was about 80% closed. When I got out of the car, I noticed it was tilted and inside, one arm was up and one was down. With CONVID-19, my dealer only has one person working and doesn’t know when it would actually be repaired, and I won’t have access to a courtesy car. They also quoted me about $2,000 for what I described. Help! It’s currently parked in a family members garage but hoping this is something that isn’t as bad as it looks!
I’m having an issue with my panoramic sunroof.
The shades open and close correctly. When I try to open the roof to position one (tilt) only the back left side starts to lift, (the back right seems jammed and won’t lift up). Whilst it is trying to open, there is a grinding noise from the motor/gears. I then press the close button and it closes again correctly. I’ve scanned for faults in the closed and half open positions with no faults detected.
I’ve been quoted £2000 by two local garages for parts and labour to replace the various parts when the roof hasn’t even been stripped to verify the issue (apparently the whole roof has to be stripped and the front seats taken out to inspect.
Please post your problems and fixes here to help me and others who experience it, thanks!

Yeah it tilts because one side is broken, The fix is replacing both rails. The plastic parts that consist of the 'lock' to allow it to slide up and out of the rest position break off. if the triangular piece pictured above is breaking, that is a newer issue I hadn't seen back when I was still working at benz but I've been away for just over a year now.

I have the same problem with my C230. I called a sunroof specialist instead of mercedes dealer and he was very familiar with this problem (was actually repairing same problem on a C180 Coupe in 2 days time). The upshot was I have my car booked in for repair at $340 (barring anything else broken) and will take 4hrs to do.
I am in Australia but I would suggest trying a sunroof specialist in your area.

All fixed, sunroof works perfectly and only cost me $300 for cash. As stated before the guy was very familiar with this problem and had no problem fixing this. I would definitely recommend going to a sunroof specialist.

Things must be cheaper in Australia! Around here 4 hours of labor is $600! And I've never heard of a sunroof specialist, I'd need to find one.
LOL remember the old days when you could have an aftermarket sunroof added to your car? I wonder if they still do that!

The guy I found used to own a business installing and servicing sunroofs. I have no idea about America but a quick Google search found 4 options for sunroof repairs and service.
I hope you can find something similar where you are as I was more than a bit worried about having to pay thousands of dollars to fix mine and so bloody relieved when I got it back and everything worked beautifully.
Good luck.
