C300 Glass Panel Roof Faulty

C300 Glass Panel Roof Faulty
While driving on a major highway in Houston Texas I heard a loud noise which appeared as if something had hit my car on the roof. Then I looked and although it was a busy highway there wasn’t a car in front nor beside me. When I arrived home and was able to assessed the issue, I discovered that the pice between the windshield and the sunroof was gone (Glass Panel, Roof).
I took it to the dealer and he said the MB would not cover the cost because it wasn’t part of the extended warranty and it was glass.
I then took it to my collision person and he said that it is faulty work and that it wasn’t sealed/glued properly from the manufacturers and that I should have MB pay for
the part and labor. See attachment for details.
Does anyone know if there is a recall on this glass panel roof for shattering or coming off?
I’m thankful that no one complained of being hurt by this piece flying off my car, I can only imagined If I had been driving during rush hour, this could’ve caused problems.

Will be covered under factory warranty but not CPO usually. They do come unglued and fly off in hot climates, ****ty parts/assembly, but sadly the extended warranty doesn't cover detachable body parts like that.
The piece is black plastic and comes the right color, you can easily buy and have it installed by Safelite or any mobile glass company as a last resort. It glues in like a window even though it's a trim piece. I have a feeling the plastic is why it doesn't stick to the adhesive like the glass does.

I live in Florida and this just happened to me. What was the outcome of getting yours fixed? What did you do? What is the part called? What did it cost you?

I live in FL and it seems like the glass flying off is a common occurrence. Mine flew off on the highway as well. Now I am looking for the part and I don't even know the name of the glass or the part number.
