Stage 1 C400 Pops & Bangs map💥

Hello,

Im planning to do a Pops & Bangs mapping to my Stage 1 tuned Mercedes-Benz C400 2015 (S205) at my local tuning shop.

My exhaust system is completely stock. My mechanic said that my catalysts should be removed before the Pops & Bangs map since it could damage them badly. Would you recommend deleting the original catalysts from the exhaust or has anyone done this before? Is it safe? Will check engine light come up?

I have also searched for some exhausts but they tend to cost quite much which is over my budget at the moment.

Sorry for my english and thanks in advance. ☺️

Yes, Its recommended to delete the cats and go for catless downpipes because the pops/burbles/bangs will eventually damage the oem cats. When you do get Catless dps, the check engine light will come on if you don't have a tune, if you are getting a tune then the CEL won't come on. In my opinion, I would stick with some high end catless dps, since I've heard numerous stories that cheap dps will crack due to poor quality in welds. I have stage 2 DME Tuning on my 2015 C400(sedan) with Armytrix dps and custom exhaust setup, and so far I have no issues, car runs great.

Ok thanks for the info. Do you also have the Pops & Bangs done in your car?

Yea I have pops and bangs but itll only pop at 3k-4k rpms. I wish it would pop and bang at lower rpms but the only tuning company that can do that is AMR tuning.

What is the name of the company that did you P&B? And does the mapping have a specific name or just P&B? Just so I can do the same one on mine and know its working.

What is the popping like, does it sound good? Do you have any videos of it?

Best I could do is have it on MP3 file. Its just an audio clip of the pops on my C400, I dont have the best phone so it is louder in person. My exhaust setup is basically straight piped. It may sound different depending on the exhaust setup.

C450,GLC 63,VW GTI
BMW,Mercedes, Mini, Aston Martin, Audi,Jaguar All have stock burble tunes OEM from the factory. you dont need to go catless. its when you get it over tuned is when you get too much overrun over an extended period of time that it hurts the cats.

but thats under extreme cases. Stock cats are fine.

my wifes c400 has a burble tune for 20,000 miles now and no issues. it has the same cats as the c43 from the factory and the c4e has pops and bangs stock.
