What is the actual difference between the C400 and C450 transmissions

So I've been having issues with my C400 transmission that nobody can figure out and honestly I am sick of the slow and laggy shifting. I've seen videos and the C450 transmission seems to be quite a bit faster despite them both being the 7G. I was wondering what the actual differences are, is it just software or are the internals of the C450 also different? Has anybody actually been able to look into part numbers for both transmissions? Also if there is something different would it be possible to somehow convert the C400 transmission to be like the C450 one?

Part numbers are different but that doesnt mean they are not interchangeable. My C400 seems to shift about the same as the C450's ive seen.
Assuming you are out of warranty and want to fix the car, maybe find a junk yard C450 (very rare) and swap them out. Might be good to have the help of someone like Eurocharged to give a ECU reflash or trans tune if it should need that after the swap.
How many miles on it and what have you tried to to fix yours?
Im about to change the fluid on mine with Motul 236.15 and see if i can make them a little crisper, but ive not had any problems up to 50k miles.

do you mean its slow in the automatic shifts or in the manual shifts? if its only in automatic it might help to just reset the transmission

7Gs are known to need either solenoid cleaning or conductor plate replacement at higher mileage.

I did a trans service at 100k kms, did the TCU Update recall around 110k kms, and changed engine mounts at 115k kms. Car currently sits at 125k kms.

The issues I’ve experienced aren’t very consistent and somewhat difficult to replicate but I will try my best to explain,

  1. When in sport, sport+ or manual mode and between 2000-3000rpm, letting off the gas you can feel a minor vibration through the gas pedal. Not as noticeable under 2000rpm
  2. Harsh/clunky shifts. The car does this in every mode, but most noticeably in comfort. Sometimes it will clunk into gear and it is noticeable enough to jolt the car. Sometimes when upshifting the car almost feels like it hesitates to shift and feels like it shifts twice. When in manual mode the downshifts are sometimes heavily delayed (3rd gear is most noticeable). Sometimes when cruising the car will feel like it shifted and there is a jerk but it stays in the same gear.
  3. Delayed acceleration, occasionally when aggressively accelerating the car will feel like it’s not making full power and all of a sudden it will kick in. Very random, sometimes happens at 3k rpm sometimes at 4k rpm. Almost as if the trans is slipping. When this happens and you let off throttle and then reapply it feels like full power. `
  4. Shudder at 2500rpm, after a downshift if the vehicle is at 2500rpm and you gently try to accelerate the car will bounce at 2500rpm almost like a rev limiter and there is a very noticeable vibration throughout the cabin. Sometimes it ends very quickly but other times it lasts for half a second to a second and then goes away as you accelerate. This only happens at just about exactly 2500rpm in 2nd,3rd and occasionally 4th gear.

Would be helpful if anyone familiar or know what's this.

Thanks

Some of the symptoms sounds like transmission mount or engine mounts need replacement. For the transmission, more methodical diagnosis is needed. Find a test that you can repeatedly turn the problem on and off. Or repeatedly make the problem occur.
