BTW, you probably know this, but you will have to take them back out. At least IMO.

The bumper cover only has "shipping/manufacturing" primer that should be sanded down. It's not the kind of primer you want to paint directly over or leave as-is.

Unless you decide to wrap it hehe

LOL

I would still sand it down, as that type of primer is known to want to bubble out over time.

And when I say this, I don't mean you have to sand it completely off, it just needs the surface layer knocked down.

A good paint shop will know what to do with it.

Collision Prevention Assist Front Radar Issues
Quick question: did you face any issues with your BAS system light malfunctioning after the body conversion?

For context, I converted my 2016 Base C300 (same body as yours) into a 2020 facelift AMG C43 with an aftermarket bumper kit. Due to the different bumper styles, the autobody shop could not properly mount the ‘Collision Prevention Assist’ module (rectangular unit that typically sits behind the bumper), and they had to build a custom mount to place it in the same location it was in previously. My BAS light will randomly go off while driving now, and I haven’t been able to find a solution despite having numerous re-visits to the shop. Wondering if you have any advice, or how you mounted your sensor on your C63 kit.

The module needs to be re-initialized by Xentry to learn new defaults. Either find a specialist or take it to a dealer.

Answer: Essentially no. I say essentially because mine would randomly go off before and after I did the work, no change. The whole time I had the car it would go off for no apparent reason but not often and there was no discernable pattern to it.

Sorry you're having issues. I'm really curious what they did because the radar sensor mount is part of the reinforcements for the left and right of the bumper. If they had to build a "custom mount", that leads me to believe they left out the bumper reinforcement. If so, they screwed it up IMO.

Unless your new bumper was not just the bumper cover, buy also had the C43 reinforcements? But even then, I would be fairly certain the C43 utilizes the same radar sensor and would have a place for it in the C43 reinforcement.

The part I'm talking about is pictured below (and shows how I had to cutoff the lower ear to fit the new bumper) and you can see the radar sensor is contained in the bumper reinforcement.

Taken from this post:

I hope they didn't just leave out the reinforcement, as otherwise that part of the bumper cover will be like a wet noodle.

For the sensor issue, sorry I'm not sure why you're having that issue unless it's possibly not mounted properly?

do you have any pics of the back of both bumpers?
my car only has the parking sensors and everything just popped in to the aftermarket bumper in stockish locations.
maybe it needs to be calibrated like when you replace the windshield, the sensors on windscreen have to be reset

I see you don't have that reinforcement beam behind the left-hand air Inlet like mine did. Must be a 4Matic thing.

yeah first thing I noticed too, think they have made some changes to bumper too.. I didn't have to swap any reinforcement stuff over from stock bumper or cut anything but the intercooler parts have no room on passenger side due to the tubing that lives there, driver side lots of space, horns could be easily relocated.

So the new bumper cover already had the internal plastic reinforcements (between the grille and fenders) included? Interesting.

Wait, Keith, I thought you had to remove/replace your old ones from your old bumper onto the new bumper? Well ****, if Sid didn't have to remove/replace any internal components, I might end up using the same seller that he bought the bumper from hehehe!!

@Sid, do you mind sharing the link or seller you purchased the bumper from? Please and Thank you!!

Yup, mine was just the bumper cover and all the accessory parts. I had to use the original reinforcements from the inside of my original bumper cover. Otherwise it would've just been a flimsy bumper cover you could push in with your fingers.

I think Sid got his from the same seller I did (?)

Just FYI, they're all plastic reinforcements and not hard at all to transfer over. Mostly just snaps in and out, so I wouldn't let that discourage you either way.

like i said in the other topic, looks amazing but careful with stones going past those huge gaps in the grills. the intercooler is rather fragile for stone impacts

Exhaust diameter and cutout
Hello im wondering to make an exhaust cutout on Mercedes c350e but I don't know what the diameter of the exhaust pipe is, and I'm wondering how It is to wire it, if its good enough to wire the battery or the 12v socekt and if anyone know what cable it is on the socket if i need to connect to that.

Yes good advice, it is a common issue with that style of bumper and grille on the C 63 S pre-facelift, the facelift has a mesh and a mesh retrofit to the pre-facelift is also possible: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-c63s-...ispreloading=1

I'd like to report that the front bumper conversion is finally complete! Also, had to get the entire car wrapped in Satin Black. Love the way she looks.
