Batteries in today's modern cars with tons of electronics don't last 10 years anymore. Average lifespan of a battery these days is about 4 years. The W205 like many other modern cars uses an AGM battery as they can handle all the electronic consumers. In old cars, the biggest job for the battery was to start the engine, but once running there wasn't much to power. Very different story these days. Ultimately the lifetime of the battery depends on environmental conditions as well. In rougher climates where it gets cold often it won't last as long.

What is everyone doing in terms of battery replacement? I've read that you can use any battery that meets the same spec as the OEM one, but you also need to reset something with Xentry which only the dealer can do.

I got Varta. The Varta guy who replaced the OEM connected the car to temporary power while he was replacing the batteries. Nothing changed in the car no restting no coding no Xentry nothing no visit to the dealer or stealer if i may say.

Talking in general, but I am only a professional who fixes 5-12 MB a week
This depends on:
Do you drive your car twice a week or every day
What Class it is
What is your average Temp ?
what options you have
for example on a post 2016 S class in Texas driven 3 days a week replacement is 3.5 years this is in my eyes the nest secure replacement delay
who cares spending 100$ every 3.5 years on a MB anyway

I purchased my 2015 used in 2018, so I don't know the history prior to me but the battery looks like the factory supplied battery and it's still going strong (knock on wood).
My car sits a lot too, I've only put on ~20K miles since I bought it.
There are definitely a lot of variables involved in how long a particular battery will last.

I bought the Mercedes replacement at the dealership and switched it out myself. $300 for the battery but I'd rather have the OEM battery than one from autozone. Switched it out myself, you only need 3/8 ratchet with 10 and 13mm sockets.

Didn't reset anything via Xentry after changing it, the only thing to change would be to tell BCM that it is a new battery and not to crank the alternator output way up but W205 is smart enough where it will dynamically adjust the charging of the battery depending on it and other conditions.

My W205 was supplied with a Varta battery with MB labels, I actually bought a replacement at 4.5 year mark and Varta F21 is exactly the same battery bar for the labels.

is logical as they don't make any

While you switched out battery did you need to connect the vehicle to a temporary power source like another poster suggested?

This place is a joke.
About 3 years average on any new MB with Eco start/stop. Constantly cranking the engine takes it's toll on the battery. You save pennies in gas and will pay later, hundreds for a new battery once out of warranty. Previous MB's would average about 7 years.

My low milage 2015 gets driven only occasionally like 1 or 2 times a week. Has gone through some pretty cold Canadian winters and is still on its original battery.

Still on my original as well, 2015 C400.
