My C300 Journey

Hello anyone that reads this, glad u stopped to read, but this is going to be a post about my experience with my 2015 c300 base, im Star and i’m 22 from Maryland

I bought this car last year in october 2021 for $13,000.

when i bought it, me and my cousin test drove it at the lady’s house and took it for about 10 mins each (20 mins in total we both drove for 10) and everything seemed good. i knew nothing about cars at this point and although i know a lot more now im still a newbie at this car stuff. i wish i would’ve waited cause i went back to her house bought the car got the title and drove home about an hour and 30 mins away, during the drive about an hour in the car started overheating and giving high temperature signs on the dash, we pulled over and checked everything looked good for what we can see it was just hot and smoking a little bit, we let it cool down for like 15 mins and kept driving back home very slow w hazards on making sure we keep the temps low. got it home and looked for a mechanic, once i took it to the mechanic they told me the water pump and turbo where bad, told me the water pump was out for so long and the lady kept driving it to the point of the turbo charger melting shut. so i had to pay another $5000 to get those changed out got new tires new battery, new oil, new serpentine belt, and a couple other things just to make sure i can drive back up to maryland with the car (i bought it in florida with like 106,000 miles) total cost having the up and running ($18,000)

i’ve been having the car with only one issue remaining (speakers have 0 bass i think one producing the bass is worn out and it sounds terrible) till around march when i started running into an issue with the ac compressor, i was driving one morning with the ac on and i noticed my car start jerking a lot, and then i seen smoke, so i immediately pulled over and checked my car, at this point i was terrified cause i thought my car was going to have another very serious issue but it turned out to be the ac compressor failing. it still drives good it loves to drive fast it shifts really good when i need it some times it has some slight delays or jerks but it feels really good to drive, fastest i’ve gotten it is 134 which seems to be the limiter for mine, i can feel it has a lot more in it but the speed limiter just stops it in its track

right now im going to list the issues with the car and i’m just wondering (if anyone is even still reading) what u guys think i should do with this car as i would like to keep it forever as it’s my first car but i wish i knew a bit more about cars before i got this i would’ve gotten a much better car

-Passenger mirror got smacked off by an idiot in like june of this year in dc

-Speakers are terrible they’re not the upgraded ones and one speaker in the foot well for the passenger is blown giving me 0 bass in the whole car

-Ac compressor fully out no ac and they quoted me $2000

-Driver side headlight low beam out AND THEYRE THE HOLOGEN EWW

-says it needs service BH

thats really it, i wish i got a bmw 335 or an old e class amg or something with more power, i learned how to drive in a porsche macan S 2016 and a 2016 c400 so this car feels slow to me and not really worth all the money it cost to keep up, i always get oil changes like every other month and don’t really have any driving issues right now, it has 138,972 miles and there’s no sounds from the engine or nothing runs smooth and drives fast

should i save up money to fix it to keep it forever, sell it as is and try to get something else, fix it up and sell it, or let it die 😂

this c300 never left me on the side of the road so no matter what i can always appreciate it,
as for the c400 to c300, i learned how to drive in my cousins c400 that’s why i said in the post my first car is the c300 and i learned how to drive in my cousins c400 and my other cousins porsche macan s, when i was in florida for a couple months i was living with them but we all got tired of me using their car so we decided i should get one. hence me getting c300 as my first car

funny story, when i was looking at the car with my other cousin we both thought it was the same car as the c400, so i was so hyped and knew nothing about cars when we brought it back my cousin with the c400 came outside and was like “NO WAY U GOT THIS BS” 😂 after i just ran in the house to tell him we have the same car, i didn’t even notice my car had no sunroof i was so excited he said “WHERES YOUR SUNROOF” at that moment my heart shattered as i realized i got a poverty spec car

btw thanks for ur reply n time reading

If this makes you feel better, you get less headroom with a sunroof, another piece of thing that breaks. https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...5-c-class.html or just straight out falling to work (the clip breaks, it is plastic): https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...f-failure.html
You also get less heat entering in the cabin so it helps living in hot climates to not have it, if parked outside often.

That too : ) It is also safer too that you are sure there won't be a chance the glass on top of your head to crack (since you don't have that glass) and fall on you and hopefully never happens, but if there is a rollover at least the roof is not made of glass so it is more structurally sound/stronger.
