ETA Release / Delivery (US ONLY)
First time posting here, I’m curious to see what the estimated delivery dates are for the new W206 in the U.S.? Release date is set for spring 2022 and the dealership told me they’re looking at March or April for delivery. The car is marked as “ready” at the VPC when I last checked a week ago..
If anyone has heard differently I’d love to know!!

Who knows now - continued conflict in Ukraine has made an already dire supply issue much worse. Expect further delays.

My W206 built in December in the South Africa manufacturing plant. Currently it is on a magical cruise around the world, having weaved its way from South Africa, up to the Mediterranean, back down through Suez and over to Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and now Shanghai, among other ports along the way. I'm guessing it should be bound for Long Beach, CA shortly. Point being...cars are shipping, the volumes are lower due to the semiconductor and other raw material issues, and it's taking longer than normal when they do ship.

Most US market W206s will be South Africa cars--similar to pre-W205 cars. The vast majority of the US market W205s were built in Vance, but with the 206 we're back to South Africa sourced vehicles. We'll likely see sporadic Bremen built cars, but those will be a rarity.

The March/April timeframe seems very reasonable. Pricing has been announced, which many times is a major hangup for launch. EPA/CARB approval may be the next hurdle to jump over, but that is pure speculation on my part.

Mine was also built in South Africa. It was built in October 2021 (pre-removal of the Burmeister sound system and other options) when I gave the deposit. It was shipped in December and arrived in Brunswick VPC in Jan 2022.
I just saw mbusa updated their website to show the new W206 information! Hopefully this means they’re arriving to dealerships soon. I hope its one of the first to ship out, I think waiting this long will definitely be worth the wait.

My sales also confirmed Canadian C class also built in South Africa. I don't buy the "built every bit as well" piece. But that's globalization and the way of things. The C Class is a car for the masses and to keep selling price appealing to the masses, cost efficiencies need to be found.
