I tried to get my dashcam setup yesterday, but MBUX kept complaining about my storage device. I have a USBC-microSD device with a sandisk endurance card in it.
I'll try reformatting the card and see if that helps, but does anyone have a recommendation that works reliably?

Thanks, @818benz but I'm looking for something much smaller - like a mini thumb drive. I don't want to take-up the entire forward compartment, as that's the only place I can plug it in.

I have 2 of these in the car. One goes in the (E-class Sedan) in the caddy under my right elbow, and the other goes next to the 12v (cig lighter) connector, under the center of the dashboard. Both of them show up and either can be used for storage for the Dashcam and either can be used simultaneously for playback of Media on the Right LCD panel.
One question for those with the MB dashcam option.
I read people with the current E Class complaining they have to turn on the dashcam every time they start their car, otherwise it won't record anything.
Is that also true for the new C Class?

My 2022 C-class has the option to start it automatically. It also has a parked-protection feature that will auto-record if the car is bumped while parked.
Is this still only available at vehicle order stage? I’d like to activate this but it’s not yet in Mercedes Me store here.
Hardware wise do you need to have AR option? I’ve seen that said, but because all models have a forward camera even for sign recognition I’m not sure if it’s true and why?
I have the dashcam on my c300 Pinnacle trim and it is working perfectly. It is easily added after delivery from here: Homepage | Mercedes me connect - USA (mbusa.com).
I'm not sure what options or trim level is required but if you put your vin number into the website it will tell you what options are available. I added
SanDisk thumb drive from Amazon and formatted with exFat. It will work from any of my three usbc ports and easily lets me view the video on my pc. It's also easy to review the videos in the car. I'm sure any size would work, but the 512GB will give you days of continuous recording. You can set loop recording that will overwrite the oldest video once the card is full and will start automatically when the car starts. Each video is about 250 MB and 2 minutes long. Video quality is very good at 1920 X1280 resolution. Note that the dashcam is only using the forward-facing camera mounted behind the rear-view mirror.

Yes, it's dedicated physical dash camera. Not any camera. My car doesn't have it unfortunately. It's kind of sad that it's not avalable as post sale upgrade. Seem not very intrusive to add. I have seen some 3rd party solutions but not integrated in MBUX software.

Doesn't it record "all around" the vehicle if the bump-protection is triggered (while parked)? That's what I understand, but I haven't tested it -- nor would I really know how to test it without damaging my own car. In that case, it would be recording more than one camera.

This is different than dash camera feature. Active collision detection or so. Different set of cameras are used for this.

And where is it recorded to? (And if different than the USB storage we have to supply, why didn't the just freaking add a few GB and save us all the trouble!)
Seems somewhere intrenally or/and on a cloud. At least it's not mentioned anywhere that USB storage is required for this. On the sticker it goes as GUARD 360 but don't see the same in the user manual.

Don't ask me . The size difference between ocasional snapshots and daily video recordings is significant though.
