License Plate relocator

Hello everyone!

I´m sales consultant in Mercedes Benz Mexico and lately i´m receiving the C 200 Sport 2023 (W 206) with a license plate relocator, but nobody knows how to install and relocate the license plate.

Anyone knows how i can do this ?

Thanks!

I left mine off. Thought it looked terrible in that location. I would install it if it mounted in the center.

I don’t have an answer for you, just a comment. I found the piece between your fingers in the trunk of my new 2024 C300 I picked up last week, and it’s been driving me crazy trying to figure out what it is. Even with the part number printed on it, I still couldn’t find any clear info. I live in Illinois, USA, where front license plate is required by law, so dealer installed it per your second picture. (I like it there, rather than centered, where it was on my 2021 C300; preference I guess). In my part investigation search I never came across any instructions for using the plate relocator, and suspect my dealer doesn’t know how to use it either, because my front plate is only half attached. I’ll be taking it in to have them figure out the right way to secure it before it falls off. Thanks for your post though; I’ll be able to sleep now that I know what that part is used for!

What a horrible design! Never got the off center license plate installation location, but this is especially horrible looking. That piece in your hand, is that maybe supposed to go behind the license plate holder in the lower right corner and snap somewhere behind it in the fake air intake cover, so the right lower quarter isn't free floating in the air?

Why does the front license plate always seem like an afterthought? They show off the front design of the car and then you have to drill into the bumper to slap on an ugly license plate holder. Basically ruining your bumper with holes from self tapping screws. Is that the best we can come up with? Technically I'm supposed to have a front license plate here in California, but screw it, pun intended. I got a ticket once with one of my previous car, a 2007 Audi S4. At least it had a place in the front grill where the license plate holder screwed on. There were already proper screw holes in place and they had two center pieces for the grill. One with license plate holder and one w/o, so I just had to order the one with license plate holder and show it to a local cop after paying the $10 fix-it fine. In this case, the designers actually factored in the license plate. I can also pay a larger fine and get away with it. That's what I will do if I ever get a ticket again. I did European Delivery with my C63 and because front license plates are mandatory in Europe, they drilled holes in the bumper to attach the Euro export plate, but once the car arrived at the VPC, they repaired the front bumper w/o asking, so I wasn't gonna drill holes again. They can't stop me for just missing a front license plate. I got that ticket while my car was parked on the street in San Francisco, so I just don't park on the street.

I guess slybrackets will be the best compromise.

2025 C300 4Matic Blk/Blk
I live in Illinois and just picked up my 2025 C300 4Matic last week. I had them put on the front license plate bracket before I picked up the car and it was mounted in the center on mine. I know that it came in the trunk with the car, but it appears to be designed for the center. I watched the YouTube link in an earlier post and it seems to be formed just for the off-set. I wouldn't know what that extra piece would be for, but I do not mind mine being mounted in the center.

The way they designed the bumper on the amg line it is meant to be mounted on the side as the centre it will restrict airflow. The configurator also shows it is mounted off centre only the base non amg line has it in the middle.

Guess the front plate is an afterthought when designed the vehicle, it will be great in places that doesn't need the front plate, much cleaner.

Thank you for that. Guess I wasn't looking to see they were referring to AMG models in the photos.

The cars are German and they all have front plates. This is how they are normally mounted in Europe. American plates are a different shape but even if they are a bit higher I can’t see how mounting them is an issue

I knew about the different sizes of plates before but it never occurred to me to think that was the reason why the plates are off centre in North America so thanks for pointing it out.

Front license plates where required - on cars with collision avoidance, etc., must be offset to avoid interference with sensor in the grill center star.
