Base stereo on EQB is much better than the c300.

I just had an EQB as a loaner for the fuel pump recall and the base stereo on that system which is also a Burmester system same as the c300 but the EQB sounds so much better. It seems like there’s a middle speaker and 2 tweeter more on the EQB system plus the bass sound a lot better too. I am satisfied with a base system like that but c300 base system is just much worse than that. Does anyone know exactly how those 2 systems are different? I can’t find any info on Mercedes build configurator.

If I recalled correctly, I did read the base speaker is focal not Burmester, although it does have the Burmester logo, not sure if that is true. You can find more details on the Burmester on Burmester's website but the focal might be tricky to find.

I just looked up focal speaker for the c class and this set is a front door speaker and tweeter up grade for our base system. it seems like c300 base stereo system does not come with a tweeters, maybe that's why it's so bad.
The EQB does have tweeters and a mid speaker.

and here is the focal subwoofer upgrade for our base stereo with one sub woofer to 2 woofer.

The C Class base system is not focal, it's a Mercedes branded 4 mid range/midbass speakers in the doors and 1 6.5" footwell subwoofer. It sounds like the EQB had advanced sound system which is below Burmester (unless it had Burmester grilles). That system is 225w, 9 speakers (2 rear door, 2 front door, 2 on the pillars, 2 front subs and centre speaker). FYI Burmester in the C Class/CLE is trash, I'd always recommend a custom audio build if within budget.

9 speakers seems about right on the EQB sound system, the plastic grilles on the door looks just like the one's on the c300. But sounds so much better than the c300 which have only 5. Only 5 speakers on a over $50k car is pretty bad. Even our 1999 nissan sentra sv, sv have the upgraded stereo, which cost $15k brand new sounds better than the c300. I still have the EQB and i really enjoy listening to the music it pumps out and can't say the same for my c300. I think we should have like a class action lawsuit that they put only 5 speakers in the car but have tweeter's and mid's that have no speakers in them but deceptively making people think that they are.

I guess they are trying to upsell you to Burmester : (

Maybe we really need to test drive the vehicles more thoroughly before buying our next car.

The “f” on the speakers is not the burmester logo. It’s a Mercedes thing, that’s why you see it on base systems too.
You won’t find that “f” in any other car brand with burmester installed

I see thank you, I thought the f stands for focal, certain W205 had focal as base speakers, the W206 changed that I guess.

All factory systems are bad now; they group all the necessities into a single premium package so that they can attract you with the cars base price and then persuade you that the option is necessary. Most people will only realise they wanted/needed those options after owning the car for a period of time. Even in a £250,000 base RRP Bentley Continental you "only" get a 650w 10 speaker system which is worse than Harmon Kardon in a 4 series and you have to pay to upgrade to Bang and Olufsen or the higher end Naim.
