Hello! Does anybody know what exactly are these 3 things on the bottom of interior lights (please see picture attached). Heard various scenarios, as they could be sensors or lights? However, none of them seems to light up, not even at night time. Thank you!

I believe the two white modules are the light sensors for the auto-dimming mirror. There is a similar square shaped sensor on the back of the mirror facing the windshield. The light levels from the sensor are compared and the mirror dims. There is also a sensor inside the mirror itself that you can see when pointing a flashlight at on angle onto the mirror in the dark. As @Ruppia mentioned, they might also be used for the interior motion detection when the vehicle is alarmed.

I also believed that the smaller, dark dot was the reading light as @W205C43PFL mentioned. However, I realized there is no way for me to turn it on. Anyone please let me know if they can. I now believe the smaller dot is an additional sensor. Here is an old MB diagram I found and it looks like these are all auto-dimming sensors. The mirror and generation are different, but the components appear similar (small black dot and two white modules). A67e2 and A67e1 are listed as reading lamps, however they're surrounded by other white modules which I believe are the lux sensors attached in your image.

If anyone is able to get light from these components, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm convinced they're all sensor modules for the auto-dimming mirror.

Don't worry, it can get confusing at first but the buttons to turn on the reading lights is where you turn off and on interior lights are.

Hi,

You attached a picture of the w205 overhead console. The OP's image and the thread are for a w206. Do you have a w206 in which you can test the newest generation buttons? There are no more book icons and I haven't been able to get any part under the mirror to illuminate no matter what buttons I press. I assume the reading light function has been integrated into the overhead console light itself – when you press a single light to illuminate the front left or right. This still doesn't produce light under the mirror. Thanks.

There is a sensor there which you hover with your hand to activate the reading light on the newer cars (W206), that said, that feature is only available if the vehicle was equipped with MBUX interior assistant: https://www.mbusa.com/en/owners/manu...ortcontactless

As you already know, there are also reading lamps on the overhead panel as well, again it is a gesture motion to get it on explained here: https://www.mbusa.com/en/owners/manu...erior-lighting

Alternatively, you could probably try asking "Hey Mercedes" Turn on the reading lamp/lights.
