2026 W206 parked vs Truck, the truck won

I got an alert on my phone on Friday that my car had detected a collision. I'm glad it took pictures.
I went to the parking garage to see that someone had clipped my front end and broken my front left headlight. At least he left a note.
I dropped the car off at a dealer's body shop, and now I'm going to have to wait forever to get it fixed. I only got this car three months ago.
I looked up the light, and that alone is going to be more than $3,200. He hit my front left wheel and turned the steering wheel while parked. I don't know if there is any suspension damage.
I'm very curious what the total bill is going to be.

Sorry to hear that. Not a great start to the New Year. Still he did leave a note which is good.

I honestly don't know why some of these people drive these oversized pickups when they don't know how to drive.

Most of them don't... Multiple times I week I sit in my car and watch men struggle to park their mega sized pedestrian dozers. I live in a city where the majority of them do not have a job which requires such a car...

What's worse is a lot of them like to think they drive a sports car since they're pushing a v8 even though it's a 10000 lbs car. I love overtaking them in my little c300 especially when the left lane campers decide to step on it after seeing my turn signal.

Not where I am. There are a TON of "Ford Compensators" and not just the SVT ones (well - Ford, Dodge, RAM, Toyota)...they will run a freaking 11.0 qtr coal rolling my AMG the whole way. 30" off the ground and neon lights underneath glowing proudly.

This was a company truck for a construction equipment rental company. I think it was more the guy's age...72.

On a positive note - chances are that can buff out with the right skillset and person. From there DO NOT send it to insurance. Have it fixed by someone who will not report the VIN for something that small.

Oh, including the dent. Some of the dent pullers are freaking magicians when it comes to metal repairs.

This is not small. This is going to be more than $10k to fix. The company that owns the truck is paying to repair it.

I will get compensated for diminished value.

Not reporting accidents and not disclosing accidents when selling a car is fraud. You may be cool with cheating people, but I'm not.

To be fair 12k for the repair also seems like fraud... it would have been much cheaper to just replace the entire front bumper piece but I'm sure the body shop guys would rather bill 42 hours to insurance.

The fleet management company handling the repair is welcome to get quotes from other shops. They know way more about this than I do. It looks like they are trying to replace anything that has any damage at all.

Here's the list of parts being replaced:

Got the car back. $15,300 worth of parts, labor, and paint.
Diminished value is next, which could be more than $10,000.
