I did research on your wheels, they are indeed more aggressive than the OE specs, but as stated above, wheel fitment and taste are subjective. Whenever you put larger diameter wheels with spoke design that are thinner, the appearance of the car will change.

Larger tires and/or suspension drop will improve the look.

Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.

Hype, as long as your happy thats all that counts, The car looks great. I think that is pretty cool that Lon is going to try to help you out, that means alot and I'm sure it will all work out. For the money you spent, it should just be totally correct. And to ROCK, it has nothing to do with being a wheel snob, when you spend good money, it should be perfect. I think Vic(and others/myself) was right in telling Hype about the situation, at least Hype is aware of it and learned something which is what these forums are for.

You are an idiot- but I still like you and wont ban you...

As others said HRE makes the perfect fitment WHEN the retailer orders it right. The factory wheels look waaaaaaaay too tucked, the reason we buy HRE wheels is for the perfect untucked look, lowered or not. Why would anyone spend this much on wheels that required some additional modifications? Hyperion deserves no less.

Lon emailed me about this in the AM and has done the right thing from a manufacturer perspective which doesnt always happen. Kudos...

Rock stay out of my thread.

Perfect offsets for an aggressive flush fitment make a world of difference, something I didn't appreciate when I first started modding my cars. You don't have to be a "snob" to appreciate it, the average person will notice the difference between an aggressive fitment and an OEM one, they just won't be able to put a finger on what makes the aftermarket fitment look so much better.

Hi Vic,

As usual, I'm inspired by your mentoring and words of wisdom.

Listen, I'm just trying to make hyperion feel a little better about his buying decision. No need to pile on a guy who just spent $$$$$ for his HRE's.

In all honesty, I never realized how important wheel offset is until I became a member here. A drop and the proper offset can make or break a ride.

Here you go:

Incorrect offset and drop:

Proper offset and drop:

Wheels look great!

I would personally have gone a lil more aggressive in the rear but looks great none the less. I also vote for a drop. I think it'll make the car look even better!

i drive them all, fast and hard
again its all subjective

its like saying a stock set up is wrong, but actually its optimal per factory

its always interesting, how weird a car looks if only the wheels were changed, but size, offset, tiresize, etc all stay the same.

the car will always look like it needs to be lowered, even if it didnt when it was stock

heres not the best example but with my mercs, i had finally changed the wheels and yea it should have been lowered but i resisted and once i finally did, i knew it would look awesome but i really appreciate it even more every time i walk into the garage, best looking car in there.....

I think you missed the rest of my post--- HRE follows what i post and Lon at HRE noticed what I said and they are gonna help Hyp out... We are never here to insult but only here to help (most of us) and when someone post pics they are subject to thoughts and opinions.

I think my (and others) have actually helped Hype out. I know HRE better than most as an individual and I know how great they are. And again they have stepped up when it wasnt their fault. I wasnt the first or the last to comment on how the wheels looked but I wont pull punches. Hyperion respects my opinion or he wouldnt have got the wheels in the first place (see his post at the start).

Sorry about the idiot comment.

And yes your GTR looks great with spacers like mine. I should know as you got your wheels from the same place I did via my me I think. But BBS doesnt make a true GTR fitment (or they didnt) so we both had to add spacers and that never sat well with me because of the price we pay for these wheels.

would buying some 305's make things better?
add spacers?? of both??
I don't really want to wait for more wheels, and there's little chance of actually getting new ones....
should I mention it to the tire dudes??

and yes, I am happy with the wheels......but I did not know they were built differently....

I see what you mean, and am looking into getting the optimal look

more info: the retailer did not give the specs for my car......
a man named Tito at HRE was given the make and year of the car and that's it...........

I am now feeling like HRE built the wrong wheels for my car...
if they know that the rear need's an 11 and the front gets a 9...
then why did I get the sizes I got??

what should I do??

Talk to Lon, I'm sure he'll work things out for you. Also, don't fear the drop, I'm fairly slammed and have had no issues on crappy Chicago roads.

aye OH!!OH aye......

cool, but what about the bumpy ride of a lowered car you know?
It's pretty sensitive even with both suspention lights on......
does it get even bumpier?
and yeah, in regards to the wheels: do you think they'd really cough up another pair of rear wheels at 19x11 instead of 10.5?
I'd be stoked if they did, but that's like 3K right there....
plus getting tires in that size(305) limits me to brand choices too.....

decisions!

I hate to say it but I think your RETAILER gave HRE the wrong car... Ill bet your retailer said it was a CLS550 not a CLS63.

HRE has done two sets for my CLS already- October and February and both times they said 20x9 and 20x11.

As Ajag stated Lon can clear it up...

I haven't noticed a big difference, I'm on the non PP suspension and usually run it in comfort, and sport when the roads are smoother, and haven't had any issues.

Even if you just lower the car, the rear wheels will stick in far and be just as noticeable. I would really push the issue to get a new set if anything at all. Correct offsets make a world of difference, even if the wheels were stock(stance is key). I would hate to see you put spacers on that beautiful car, but that could be the worst case possible(last resort if at all). Hype, Did you find out what the offsets are on your wheels? Curious to see what they are.
