Perhaps he wasn't really trying that hard? the Aventador does need a break in period of 2-3k before they should really be driven hard. Regardless a nice run by another AMG car!

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
I love this kind of personal account: killing lighter, way more expensive semi-track cars on a straight. Sure, our GT cars can't beat them at turns, but it's still satisfying to kill them on a straight. I can't imagine the potential when MB turns to DCT and LSD for all the AMG cars.

By the way, I wonder where you're located to have the room to go at those kind of speed.

I wish I could have recorded my encounter it's only that I had no passenger with me to grab a camera, maybe then you would have shared with me the fact that this guy had it on the Aventador limit, I am a big fan of the Aventador and i did not even expect the outcome of this race sharing my kill is just expressing my feelings and achievement of upgrading my car, never the less I promise to try to get an Aventador vs my CLS on video and share it with everyone

All this happened in UAE

No way that a car which is not trying hard can stay with a modded CLS63 biturbo until 290kmh.

I am not sure my tuner believes we are in the range of plus or minus 850HP on the crank now, when we took her to the dyno the boost drops by 0.3bar my last dyno was 659whp on dyno jet with the drop, on the same dyno when stock I had a reading of 520whp or so, and from that dyno run we have added more cooling system advanced the timing and some more boost. Sorry I hope it makes sense but those are the numbers that I have. If it helps on the same dyno my friend's CLS with a tune no cats and a large heat exchanger dynoed 589WHP

I have done it with normal everyday tires not drags and I don't have a locking deferential on my car not even the one offered by AMG and no skinnies up front!!
would yours still be covered by a factory warranty if something happens to the engine and trans? chances are that RENNtechs would be, as I know many MB dealers who sell RENNtech

Also, I don't believe that you would run down the lambo unless the guy was a complete *****. Sorry, but I am governed by the laws of physics.

umm ok??? but maybe you should read the posters story closer- the lambo was running at that speed and the cls caught up and went by- PERHAPS the lambo driver stopped pushing. don't read anything more into it. still a great run by an awesome AMG car.

you should read up on the Aventador
2.8 0-60
1/4 in mid 10's
and as i said they need a 2-3k break in period

SL55 beating an Aventador is a different thing altogether. My stock E63 PP walks a fully modded CLS55 from a roll, i can't imagine how ugly it would get racing Dbasons55's CLS63. If i'm not wrong, his car is faster than a modded 997 GT2 ... And trust me, even an Aventador will have problems beating one of those. Ok i agree maybe the Lamboghini driver did stop pushing at around 290kmh to let the AMG past, but by then it was probably obvious that he was not pulling on the CLS.

1/4 mile and 0-60 times are based on launching, and Aventandor has advantage of 4WD. Whats more indicative of rolling performance is the trap speed, and according to www.dragtimes.com, an Aventador traps 133mph which is not far off the Renntech CLS63 on stock turbos.

Guys you aren't getting it right let's start all over again, first in the law of physics I have more HP more TQ and I am not exactly driving a G-Wagen! And yes my engine and tranny is fully under warranty from my tuner!

The race, I was driving behind the lambo doing speeds of 120-140km "cruising" when the lambo guy nailed his car I nailed my car just as I heard the thing do it's back shift! I started closing the gap took the lane next to him as I was passing him and after I have got the lead of one car length, I had the chance to see the speedometer where I was at 290km, and if the lambo stopped pushing I think the gap would have been 10 cars at that speed. I believe if a lambo looses a race it doesn't mean the driver does not know how to drive his car! Whenever someone buys a car the first thing is learn how the thing works! Don't blame it on the driver cuz you think my car isn't fast, and the lambo owner is in his early mid 20's so I am sure he will know how the thing works.

I shared my story cuz it's one of a kind I don't expect everyone would believe me, I don't care, I care to be an AMG fanatic I will make a video I promise, I am sure the Aventador would beat me from a dig but I might have a chance to close the gap! But from a roll god bless AMG that Aventadore will look good in my rear view mirror!

Cool story
I beat a Bugatti veyron once in a McDonalds parking lot,
in a Hummer. We were both going for the drive up window to order.
Had him the whole way.

At that point there was about 2 car lengths between us I didn't expect the outcome, I was closing the gap at the same time thinking to myself is this guy really pushing it! Thanks GAD-Motors you guys rock
Nice run. The new CLS with your mods is sick.

Ok I am not sure what's the drag difference are maybe someone else can chip in this one sorry!
Weight the Aventadore is 300kg heavier that's 640lbs calculates to 64whp. Let's add them up Aventadore is 700hp with 10% drivetrain loss that's 630, so I need to be around 694whp to be dead even!
My car is around 850hp give or take 10hp, with 15% drivetrain loss "although I believe it's less" would be 722.5whp, so 30 odd WHP is good to give you a lead in any race and just for your info my tuner is being very conservative with the numbers! As I said I will do a video as soon as the opportunity comes along
