Dyno Sheet - My Renntech tuned CLS 63 TT

This was on a Dyno Dynamic...not a DynoJet like Renntech uses. Dyno Dynamics tends to read 12% lower than Dynojet. It even has a nick name...."The Heart Breaker". Renntech using a DynoJet got 581.6 WHP. Take 12% from that and you get 523 and I hit 535. If you crunch my number up 12% I'm right at 600whp on a DynoJet.

Renntech posted number for this upgrade is 680 at the crank.

I also don't like how the power drops off at the top end where the timing seems to go a little nuts. This sheet would suggest that I shift way before red line. We logged it too and confirmed the timing going nuts at the top end...and am trying to figure out how to share that.

All thoughts and comments welcome.....

Definitely some good power. Work out that top end and it'll be all good. (Not that you aren't making enough power already)

Jason, like we talked about yesterday, we need to run these cars on the streets... paper is for fools (i say with some sarcasm as we need dynos for perspective)

You know what I made on that same exact dyno (diff day diff conditions) so you could very well be as fast as me if not faster... or slower

The street is where its at.

hi, I'm sorry this is a noob question..
how many WHP does 680 HP at crank equal to?
Thanks bro!

If I'm not mistaken, I remember my stock PP car auto shifting before 6000rpms even in S+ mode. Maybe the power at 6400rpm isn't important.

But having said that, I haven't driven the car much so its just something off the top of my head ...

Edit: Sorry my bad... It shifts below 6000 only in 1st - 2nd gear. Could it be a bad batch of fuel?

I hear you 100% and how you helped me goes way beyond running a forum...thank you. Glad your local...

I think I will be manually shifting away from that top end...going to play with that for sure.

Fuel in CA sucks...91 and the tune is designed for 93. I believe that could be a huge variable.

Glad you're here.
First race I had you by a car or so I think and I manually shifted.
Second race I honestly can't remember who won but it was close...and I let the car shift at red line. I think the good that came from this Dyno is that I now know where to shift and can't take it to redline...I think. Does that even make sense?
And I'm just getting started on the inside... Hope to see you in the TT club soon although your car is pretty badass and moves like a phucker.

Any thoughts on this being Renntech's way of providing a "safer" tune?

maybe it need slightly bigger turbos for that high RPM issue.

Dont think its a turbo issue, cos it sounds like he's losing power due to timing being pulled

These are some serious numbers, but IMO I think its still not enough HP, 650+ and I'd be done with the car.

BUT.. This is a great tune, and those HRE's on your ride look sick AF. Looking forward to seeing more amazing stuff

Saw the same power loss at the high end. Kleemann thought the turbo's might be on the small side at the power. Also- read somewhere that using a higher gear and letting the exhaust hit the turbos longer might give a higher but unrealistic number. Have not tried...

Good luck with the upgrade! I heard that replacing the turbos is a serious deal because they are basically welded in place...

J, we should meet up at a local dynojet near you (MD Automotive in Westminster is a good one) and dyno our cars together. I'd be very anxious to see how our curves compare, same dyno, same day, same conditions.

I'm not going be a pioneer here...but have a forum buddy that has 10,000 miles on his new turbos with no issues and lots of smiles.

They're not pulling too much timing. The old saying, "lean is mean" holds true but it also blows motors. 530-580 at the wheels is no joke !! It has to be an absolute beast on the interstate. . . . Congrats !!

Have you considered changing the downpipes ?

C&C this weekend?
Nice photo! Is it just me, or is that pesky C63 slightly ahead of you.

Thinking about coming down to C&C this weekend, as being from the SF Valley I want to see how it compares to my local Supercar Sunday.

And yes, Ive got your number so I will give you a call to schedule those dyno runs once I get through the break-in period.

Downpipes are already in the works as are larger charge pipes and a larger heat exchanger. Then turbos...
I hit it pretty hard at about 70 today (with brand new tires) to get into the HOV lane and it fishtailed just a few feet to the left...love LSD...

Did you tune your ECU with Kleemann? I was to do it this week but the wild fire in Colorado stopped me. Next week maybe. Just let me know.

Just read your other post. Never mind. You might be the first on this forum with the kleemann the tune. Hope I'll be the second one very very soon!

Just an update - I am going back and forth with Renntech and they are being great in helping me figure out this lose at the higher end. The two culprits by opinion are heat and the turbos pooping out. I will get to the bottom of this....lol
