I was shocked to see this....maybe someone could translate some of the dialogue. The CLS sounds ferocious. AMG FTMFW.

CLS never disappoints. maybe if you put it up against the non-PP cls the m5 would beat it.

Off Topic: does anyone know what mount they were using for the DSLR?

Yes better but when is the last time a CLS beat a M5 around anything?

BTW, was it my imagination or did the CLS sound significantly more authoritative?

did enjoy this vid, thanx....

seems like the cls wasn't handling AS well for the driver as the M5..
and the time difference wasn't that huge...
really liked seeing the cls in action though..

they were probably just talking about girls and telling jokes..
the driver looked pretty relaxed

Its sold.

It was awesome--- love the NA response and the sound of the car was glorious in nature. The KW Coil Overs are excellent yet reasonable on the street. I really enjoyed the car, looks, and driveability.

Is not as fast as our tuned cars but faster is not always better and in this case, the C-BS is proof in the pudding. Yes its a C class but its one hell of a C class.

pretty much only because of practicality and a lower base price.. a lot of people like to disregard that review only because of the Audi taking first but C&D has a point as the 63's are a great bit more visceral than the M car

c&d, motortrend or road and track just did a comparo between the cts and a manual m5.. they declared the caddy much more fun and communicative but the M5 bested it on the track by a second or more and won the test by being much more polarizing

I'm actually really surprised that the CLS was faster, guess the weight of the BMW is really starting to show..

To sum up what he said:

- Impressed by the handling in the BMW but couldn't get a perfect lap as the grip was "unusual"..
- M5 much better in the drifting department where the CLS was a bit edgy on the exit
- M5 had a 10km/h higher top speed at the end of the straight (6mph)
- CSL had both stiffer springs (said when drifting) and better riding comfort (said during the lap)
- CSL had better steering feel, first Merc he had driven where the steering impressed him
- Takes forever to change gear in the Merc and doesn't change down when he wants it to

- Combine the Merc steering and the M5's balance and gearbox and you'd have a perfect car.

AMG is faster round the track but has a 10kmh speed deficit compared to the M5 on the straight? That's a huge handicap to overcome ... Something doesn't add up

You know whats funny, when the mic is on the M5 exhaust it sounds like nothing but in the car bc they have sound bytes piped in sounds mean...What a joke/sellout by M5 having to pipe in sound

10km/h at the end of the track could mean very little in terms of time. And I don't think it's 10km/h faster the whole straight.
And it's a very long lap so there's plenty of time to regain the gap.

Fun to watch thanks for sharing. Won't ever track mine as it's way too heavy of a car for that imho. M5 sure is a nice car and worthy competitor. One can't really go wrong with either car.

didnt you see? this WASN'T a PP!

it said 5.5 l v8 525 hk at 4:08 in the video. (assuming this is the hp) this was the non pp cls

i saw one other race where the cls beat the m5. but i think there are 3 or 4 where the m5 beat the cls.
