Who have you used to tune your car?
Just heard stories about the intracies of tuning the M157 ECU and various mishaps with one well known tuning company. Any experiences (good, bad and ugly) would be greatly appreciated.

And if you don't mind, pm me about the tuner mishaps you've heard.

I'm a Kleemann fan. Here's a link that may give you some more info on the output differences for different tunes. They're quite comparable to each other. The key is reliability I believe.

- Kleemann (Cory is a great guy to work with)
- Renntech (Most expensive but worth it?)
- MBH downpipes/ Evotech tune
- Velos (I'm not sure if they have their own downpipes or if they use Agency Power)

It was between the MBH/evotech combo and kleeman. Renntech is more than I want to spend. Velos I don't know personally anyone who vouches for them. Weistec did my C63 super charger, but then heard a very disconcerning episode involving a customer getting a tune from them, and the details were enough to make me pass on them. I know MBH's quality is great (had their LTH on my C63), but Kleeman's rep from people I know directly and the fact that their downpipes were in stock, made them my choice.

Including downpipes? I would have definitely considered it. Had renntech pulley and tune for my 2005 E55 and loved it (had Evosport shorty headers, throttle bodies and cooling package). Renntech's quality to me is fantastic, but unlike how I feel about HRE (at the end of the day the only wheel I want on my cars) -- there are other brands I could go with for less money and still feel comfortable. On a side note, I love the brabus exhaust...just don't want to pay $10k for it.

Porsche 911 Turbo S 2014! E63S 14, Audi S8 13, CLS63 12, E550 12, C63 09, all tuned
Living in W. Palm Beach, I have used Renntech for six AMGs tunes.
The only issue was I blew a OE torque converter on my 2003 E55.
All I can say is people send brand new cars there right off the boat literally,
and not just C s, but SLS, CLs, Etc. There was 3 C 63 blacks there a month ago.
But , I am either bias or maybe just lazy due to logistics.

I have the Renntech R2 package, their catless DPs (and a retune for them) and LSD. I also have K&N filters and a icebox intercooler kit. I should dyno about 630ish (w/o ice and filters) per Renntech and will dyno it myself after Thanksgiving. I'll let you guys know...

How did I miss this thread.... I have attached my thread on the OE Tune I got (on both my M157's). Ive had OE tune many of my cars as listed in the thread. Whats also important is the gains over the sweet spot of the curve not just peak HP which is rarely used in the M157 engine.
My local Benz Tech, Serge at Benzworks, is well known in SoCal and will tell you that this tune is strong and he has tested many other tunes including several mentioned in this thread.
Its always buyer beware and pay to play so happy tuning!!!!!!!
My tune was done on a DynoDynamics (low reader)

For me, as a non-track driver...the main considerations in picking a tuner are price and customer service. Whether one tuner gets my car "X amount" of HP/TQ and the other gets X + 10%, is immaterial to me. What matters the most is whether the tuner (and/or manufacturer of hardware) will stand by their product if there is an issue; and if there is a problem, whether they will do everything in their power to remedy it. That was the main reason behind me starting this thread -- to try and ferret out whether there are any tuners to stay away from due to egregious customer service issues (as opposed to one tune boasting more gains than another).
It is comforting to know, however, that the people in posting in this thread have had seemingly great experiences with a wide variety of companies. Thanks for all of your input...truly appreciated.

I have heard rumors as well regarding companies breaking ECUs but I do not know whcih company that is.
I had a Eurocharged tune on my C63 and I will go with Jerry again. Great customer service and pricing is reasonable.
If Renntech was reasonable, I would go with them since they are fairly local but for the price of a Renntech tune, I can get MBH downpipes and EC tune so I think it is a no brainer.
