Got a CLS63 P30! And a question about tire and wheel spacer ratios
The car is completely stock.
I'm looking to fill up the wheel gap a little bit and get some spacers. Searching I see plenty of posts about tire size, and plenty of posts about spacers - but nothing that has both...
Is there a good mix of spacers and larger tires? I'm thinking of getting 15mm rear and 12mm front but I don't want to move the wheels too far out and prevent getting larger tires when the time comes (probably soon with the way I'm driving it). I'm thinking 295 rears or even 305 rears if I can.
So what is the best working combination of spacers and tire size on a stock 19" 5 spoke rim?

i've got stock width with 10/15mm spacers and HR springs/lowering links. i love the way it looks. im looking at aftermarket wheels and will prolly still go with 19's. i like the meaty look of the bigger aspect ratio....

Also, if I see you in ATL, I might grab that spoiler! kidding, but where did you get it? The original owner either had my CF spoiler painted or replaced because it is standard black now.

Follow-up question on spacers - Do I need longer wheel studs for the 10mm and 15mm spacers?
Found the spoiler on Carmarka, thanks! Good price too.
Sadly, the cam sensors get the priority though... heh.

I was going to buy the cam sensors and spacers at once, but it looks like the 10mm spacers at ECS don't work with OEM wheels??

Anyone have another 10mm source for my fronts, or is that an error on ECS?

and no...no new studs are needed. the spacers come with new, longer bolts. if youre like me...you expect the studs to be part of the hub assembly. thats what i'm used to with american and japanese cars. thats not the case on Mercs (or BMW's, either). theyre just bolts...

the 10mm spacers from ECS dont fit. trust me....i've got a set in my garage. matter of fact...as i think about it...my fronts DONT have spacers on them for that very reason. smh

And to think I almost bought them then barely noticed the warning they wouldn't fit.

Rear spacers are on order (along with the cam sensors, heh).
Looking around it looks like the ideal size is going to be 305/30 for the stock 19s. Can't find any good consensus on the brand though.
I'm in mild Georgia, so a soft tire all year is fine. I've the R350 for bad weather. Pilot SS is what I put on my old C63 and they were great. I didn't have an LSD on that car though, so I was a one-tire-fire all over the place... Pilot SS still a good choice for the CLS with an LSD?

ok, after measuring it looks like I'll need some 45mm bolts...
I removed one bolt and measured it and the stock ones are 28mm. Recommended turns are 7+ for wheel bolts, so I counted turns when putting it back in = 7 1/4 turns.
The only sizes I can find are 40mm and 45mm, so 45 it is. I just hope there is at least an extra 2mm of thread space and I'm not going to bolt into something internal.
Amazon FTW!

Got the spacers installed! Looking good.
here it is without spacers
I just noticed in this first picture, you can just see the nose of the R350 and my daughters VW beetle parked outside in the bumper reflection.
And with the spacers
Next is probably going to be the larger tires as I seem to spend a LOT of time spinning these... bwahahaha!!

Wow what a difference some spacers make, looks great. The wheel spinning not worn off yet?

True to my promise, I had to get new tires.
I wore the inside of the old tires out.
Upgraded to 305/30 on the stock rims.
Still have the 15mm spacers on the rears.
Ignore that road rash on the rear wheel...
