Used high mileage 2016 cls63 s
Hi All,
I needed some advice about buying a 2016 CLS 63 S from a private seller. The car has 105k miles on it. Any particular issues with this year/model and things to specifically have inspected? What's the most likely major repair I need to think about and factor in over the next 50k miles?
Thanks in advance!

There is a laundry list of issues that could go wrong with a high mileage AMG, most notable are potential issues with the M157. I would do a compression test, have all of the spark plugs checked for oil, make sure the turbo’s were in working order etc. Personally I would not buy one of these with no warranty and that many miles in a million years.

Well I guess I've understood the risk of catastrophic failure... I'm wondering if there's any amount of inspection or specific inspection I should have done to minimize that risk.
The car looks gorgeous, seems well kept. I'll review maintenance records and have the dealership inspect the vehicle. I've owned Mercedes and BMW in the past and am aware of things like oxygen sensors going bad. I've not owned an AMG and I'm unsure if there is anything specific I need to watch out for when vehicles get to this high mileage. The last high mileage vehicle I had was a Lexus and at around 120,000 miles the suspension and bearings went bad at which point I got rid of the car.
The owner is selling the car at a very good price and I'm interested in the AMG experience without the $100,000 price tag.

Should I have the dealer check out the cam sensors etc? I'm going to negotiate the price based on all the upcoming service needs on this car (brakes I hear are expensive!).

Neighbor's relative selliing it for ~$21,000. I checked the service history with the local dealer (all service was done there). Needs a complete brake job coming up in ~5000 miles, needs an oil change soon, and needed a transmission fluid service (which was never done at the suggest 60,000 mile mark. Spark plugs were all changed out at 95,000.

Transmission inspection?
Is there any way to inspect the transmission by the dealer before I consider the purchase?
Are there folks on here with a cls 63 over 100k miles?

I would not buy this car. Too much uncertainty even with the service records. There are a many used CLS 63 to be had, I'd keep searching

Oxygen sensors fail on high mileage Toyotas, this is not comparable to an AMG.
Lexus repairs are not comparable to an AMG.
Expensive engine, electrical and suspension repairs might be in your near future, or might not. This is not comparable to Lexus or Toyota.

Buy it. It's a steal. I'm over 100k and car has been trouble free. Obviously could change, but at that price it's worth the risk of a big repair. Drive train is in a ton of cars, so plenty of used parts should the worst happen, and wa\hat are the chances of that?
