W218 CLS63 Roof Wrap / Shark Fin removal question

Hey, I have a '14 Cls63 S and would like to get the roof wrapped and would like to know how the shark fin antenna is removed? Does the headliner need to come down? I had a shop tell me that it does and they also mentioned that a rubber seal that needs to get replaced in the process.

Anyone have any insight?
Much appreciated,
H

Welcome to the forums mate! It seems to me a talented wrapper could perform this service without the damned fin coming off......keep shopping around is my personal advice

That's up for debate as you're going to have some seams in the shark's fin, most of the really detail oriented wrappers will insist on removing it. I've been trying to get an answer to OP's question myself and haven't been able to get a straight answer.

Wouldn't the wrapping of the fin itself muck up the reception?

I have been wanting to get my 14's roof wrapped as well, but the fin has been the thing holding me back. I've already swapped to black emblems and did the chrome delete so just been trying to figure out the roof???

What about just getting a wrap and then painting the fin the same color? If it could be color matched? It seems like it'd be easy enough to mask/tape off the fin to paint it huh?

Definitely an option, but I would want to have the ability to change it back. I will do some checking around and see if there are any other options than removing the headliner and all that mess.

Yeah, all that work on the interior just to get to the fin sounds like a huge risk

Don't think it would be much different than painting it but I'm not an engineer.

My fin is wrapped. It was done before I purchased the car... so I don't know how they did it, but it is super clean. It does have a seam in the rear, but you can't see it. I know it's there because the seam opened up a bit after my cover messed with it... so I pulled it open more and now I have a black and white fin. I wonder, too, how to remove the fin.
