Its a scam.. dealers did this when the SL was hot. They title the car to a an employee then they "trade" the car back.

Man, cant believe how bad some of these dealers are! Keyes Mercedes on Van Nuys Blvd is asking $84,900 for a USED CLS500! I couldnt believe my eyes! After that, the Manager practically chased me out of there telling me no way to MSRP on the 500 or 55 and that they absolutely will not let you order either one because...get this....you might decide not to buy it! SO WHAT! Sell it to someone else, its a gorgeous car, not at all hard to sell except maybe for their obscene "market adjustment". That was the sorriest, most ridiculous excuse I have heard in 24 years. Lucky for me, I ordered mine in November from a dealer that actually takes care of you. Mark Newton over at HOI. Good guy, only 2 months left till delivery!

If you run into dealers like these, just leave, dont even bother talking to them, they so greedy, rude and arrogant that they make the product as well as the marque look bad.

I forgot what the manager's name was, he was so rude I wouldnt want to remember his name anyway. You would think they would try to be nice and polite when trying to get you to drop $65-100K for a CLS but it seems the opposite. Being an A-hole is no way to sell any car let alone cars in this price range. Its the only time I have ever walked out of dealership and was genuinely angry, their attitude was that bad. Its a miracle that anyone has bought a car from them.

Your sales person not saying hello when you come in is totally unacceptable. Its just further proof that they could'nt care less once they've dug their claws into your wallet.

Sounds like you had Joe Barocaldo or something like that. Short stocky guy, new at Bill Ussery. Just in it for the numbers right now cuz he is trying to keep his job. He said he had waited 2 years to work there but has been selling cars for 20 yrs or some crap like that. I think few sales guys are genuinely friendly. Their whole life is a lie(or maybe hiding the truth), revolving around taking people for as much as they can. I dont envy that life....they seem miserable.
I dont like Bill Ussery Motors much cuz they sell for as high as possible, but they are located in Coral Gables, which is a very high end population with alot of money. The guy i like most at Bill Ussery is Donovan. I met him at the AMG Challenge last year and he remembered me. He seems to know a little more about dealing with people for the long haul.

:v What advantage is it to the dealer to title the car to an employee and then sell it used. I don't get it. How is it a scam, not that I don't believe it is a scam but how does that benifit the greedy dealers. I am intrested in the cls and then I did see what fletcher jones and other dealers were asking. 99000 for a 75000 loaded car. Thats just crazy.

This thread is about a CLS55. I have no idea what you are referring to. I said 101K is about MSRP for a loaded CLS55 and the picture of the window says 102,900. I never mentioned a CLS500.

edit: no problem

What a confused group we have here...plain and simple, cars like this will fetch a "market premium" based on limited supply and an insatiable demand (at least for the next few months) and as long as you're the guy willing to pay the price, the dealers will be more than willing to sell you that car at a premium...now why is that so shocking to some here?...ever hear of free enterprise or capitalism?

Im not shocked to see it. It is business and if someone is willing to pay a premium for it why not? I wasnt willing to so looked around and was fortunate to find one at MSRP in New Jersey. Most people had to order this a while back and be on a list, and since I was not on a list, it is safe to assume that there was a premium on most of the cars available for immediate sell. In my opinion, if you have the money, make a nice living, and want the car then go for it! Seriously, life is too short to not live for today.

I bought my C32 at Bill Ussery.... It was over at the pre-owned side with 1,400 miles.... I got a great deal on it....

I went down there again a few weeks ago and made an offer on a loaded C55 with 2,900 miles on it. They wouldn't budge much, and I left.

I saw a CLS55 the other day with Ussery plates on it... someone I know, knew the driver.... it was Ussery's wife.... maybe that's the car in the lot now.... same color and all...

I have been looking all around California for a CLS 55 on the groundo or with a build date or a delivery date. The 2 Bay Area dealers which meet the criteria want premiums of $10k (in stock withh 110 miles) and $15k (next month arrival) respectivey, and neither will budge from those premiums.

Stopped by Calabasas Mercedes today because I saw a White CLS55 sitting in the showroom as I drove by. It was optioned out the ***, absolutely everything...Distronic, Parktronic, Premium Package, Lighting Package, Keyless Go Etc. It looks absolutely sick(in a good way) in White/Charcoal and I was very excited to play with it. Then, I take a look at the infamous paper thats been added next to the window sticker and BAM! $25,000 "Market Adjustment"! I asked one of the sales people what it would be out the door and he said...are you ready?... $135,000-140,000!!! Its just so ridiculous, I had to laugh. What a bunch of takers!

Those days are over. They may find a very select few dum basses that'll pay way over MSRP but it's a buyers market these days. MB is still a great car but they aren't the far and away leader they used to be and the economy isn't in 1999-bubble mode either. I hope every one of those dealers has to get rid of the car at $5k under MSRP because it's registered and now a used car.

I was in MB of Sacramento about a month and a half ago and they had a CLS55 with a build date of late january that was not sold as of then. You might want to give them a call.
