2010 ZR1 2011 JGC Overland 2013 ML63 on order
Poll: Get a CLS55 in Silver or Black
Hey, need some big help here. The order is in and I've narrowed it down to these two colors but I keep going back and forth switching and I'm completely driving the dealer nuts.
Little bit of history: The last 5 cars I've had have all been all black, in and out. Should I be a glutton for more punishment??
The only catch... the car is in FL. But I'm a detailing freak and Zaino has become my middle name.
Please help me decide once and for all.

Tony"Zaino"007,
I agree with Brav that since you are a detailing freak with blk car then why not blk again? To me, I am lazy and probably wash the car every 2 weeks therefore black is not my type of car. You can't go wrong with either color as long as CLS especially 55
Cheers,
hlkc

There is a compromise....Obsidian Black.....all of the allure of regular black, but a bit easier on the detailing side. I went that route and have zero regrets.

If you are the type who will maintain the Black, go for it. The CLS has a sinister look in Black. Personally, I am all about Silver. All my cars have been Silver, its the way a sunny day emphasizes the lines of the car. Black is very good at hiding the lines which is bad IMO. If you compare the two photos above, you can see just how little detail and lines are shown by the Black compared to the Silver.

Having had a silver E55 and now the black CLS, I think the silver is downright boring by comparison. Just my opinion....not meant to insult!

black if you can keep up with your "promise" to her---which is keeping her clean
IMO, black exterior will make those OEM badges (AMG, 55) really stand out. Rims...I would stick with 20's w/ polished silver but no black centers. Otherwise, IMO, it would be too much black.
If you get silver...may be u can get the badges powder coated in black (NOT BLACK CHROME)...put some black center 20's with polished lips. BAM!!!!!!!!

Not even the fact you have to wash it every other day, but you lose the body lines bad on black man - seen em both in person. It's hot, but the silver 55 head turner on 20's with the chrome lip, silver insets that rolled into the Marina this weekend blew the doors off black. Black is nice on other cars, but you do lose the body lines of the CLS in it I feel - others share this opinion too. I originally liked black, but silver won me over when i saw the first one in person.
To each their own though - both are beautiful!

I saw both of those 55s at MB of South Orlando. And in person, with out a doubt... Black. The car looks so much more aggressive in black, the silver reminds me of what a middle-aged chick would select. (No judgment on those who have selected silver.)

silver, black hides the lines, go see them in person.
the black always looks really slick in the pictures, but when u go see them with your own eyes, youll see what everyones talking about, or most people, when they say the darker colors hide the defining lines of the CLS. not to knock any black CLS's out there, they all look awesome, really hard to go wrong
only downside to silver is it will be very common, so mods are a must!!
