Pewter CLS55??

Sould I wait for black CLS55 (2 to 6 month), or take the pewter color, in which it is available now?

I think the lighter colors show off more of the CLS lines and shape. But the Black is classic...you can't go wrong with it!!

I went from silver on my E55 to Obsidian on my CLS. I love the black...it is sleek and it looks amazing on the CLS....for resale there is no comparison either. Black wins hands down. Wait it out....

Wink Where's the racing yellow on black?

When we gonna see the first yellow on black special order CLS55? On Ebay? Gotta figure someone will be dumb enough to order one like that.

Thinking of CLS55 w/ the widebody rear, how limited are those?

Pewter wins, hands down

I have a black CLS55-really looks sleek, I think a light color CLS will make it look whale-like and bulbous

Has a silver E55, thats a diffrent story, silver looked good on the w211

WilliamAustin...

generally, i'd say pewter.

it's funny that a single color looks somewhat different from region to region.

approximately where are you located?

How would a color look different based on region? These cars are made in a plant in Germany...can't wait to hear the logic behind this answer.

my assertion isn't based upon logic, but rather experience. i disliked capri blue in the NE after seeing it outside the showroom. it looked purple.

in the SE, it hardly looks purple. others who've seen the car in both places have remarked the same.

i wish i could explain it using the language that my laser-scientist cousin could, but i'm not well-versed in light physics and talking with him about it would be more work than it'd be worth.

suffice to say that colors simply look different from region to region, and it seems especially so as latitude changes.

Black with the a tint is a killer look, but the pewter or iridium are better to show the "lines" of the car. Either way you will have made the "correct" choice. Just be sure to order Parktronic regardless of the color. Good Luck !

Pewter is a lovely color, but ...

I was going to choose pewter for my CLS 55, but I had difficulty with the interior colors. Champagne wasn't right, and ash looked bad. I am moving to Las Vegas, so black was not a sane choice. As a consequence, I selected Iridium Silver with the Ash interior and the high gloss poplar.

I have to say that this combination looks terrific to me, both inside and out.

While I don't disagree that I have seen certain colors appear different based on ambient lighting conditions (i.e. metal halide vs. fluorescent vs. natural sunlight), I would venture to say the difference is caused by lighting conditions and not how the sun shines differently in geographic areas. Think about the logic here....The sun's rays travel around 93 million miles to get to here. I doubt 1000 miles is going to have an appreciable difference on the light spectrum.

That said, the lines of the CLS are quite obvious even in black. As for keeping it clean, I can't tell you what my detailer does (since I don't know), but my car almost always looks amazing even after hitting some rain. Whatever he uses allows for a minimal amount of "ugliness' to adere to the car. I have had 30+ cars and the CLS with Obsidian/Charcoal/Glossy Wood is the best looking combo I have ever owned. Maybe the Obsidian adds just enough "oomph" over flat black to better accentuate the lines, but whatever it is I could not be happier. I also know that the resale is better on this combo as opposed to any other color other than basic silver. Just some food for thought.
