I have a black CLS55-really looks sleek, I think a light color CLS will make it look whale-like and bulbous
Has a silver E55, thats a diffrent story, silver looked good on the w211
it's funny that a single color looks somewhat different from region to region.
approximately where are you located?
Austin, Texas
in the SE, it hardly looks purple. others who've seen the car in both places have remarked the same.
i wish i could explain it using the language that my laser-scientist cousin could, but i'm not well-versed in light physics and talking with him about it would be more work than it'd be worth.
suffice to say that colors simply look different from region to region, and it seems especially so as latitude changes.
I have to say that this combination looks terrific to me, both inside and out.

That said, the lines of the CLS are quite obvious even in black. As for keeping it clean, I can't tell you what my detailer does (since I don't know), but my car almost always looks amazing even after hitting some rain. Whatever he uses allows for a minimal amount of "ugliness' to adere to the car. I have had 30+ cars and the CLS with Obsidian/Charcoal/Glossy Wood is the best looking combo I have ever owned. Maybe the Obsidian adds just enough "oomph" over flat black to better accentuate the lines, but whatever it is I could not be happier. I also know that the resale is better on this combo as opposed to any other color other than basic silver. Just some food for thought.
