these are very similar to the HRE 543R. Both wheels have 10 spokes. The differences are: Radenergie wheels are in stock, HRE takes about 6-8 weeks; Radenergie wheels have clearcoat on the lip for easy cleaning

As long as it isn't an HRE Competition.

I am trying to figure out why everyone on this site is so hot on HRE wheels. I mean they don't really make anything that unique, they are good wheels but so are a lot of other wheels. There are manufacturers that have been making outstanding wheels for years.... like BBS and OZ.... there are others very similar to HRE, like iForged for example... there are many tuner wheels like the ones from Kleemann, Renntech, Brabus, Carlsson, Wald, etc. There are others that make wheels that are forged, others that make wheels that are lighter, others with similar styles.

I am not knocking HRE, except that they now have given in to market demand and make wheels that have nothing to do with performance but only looks, but everyone on this site seems to always talk about HRE like they invented the wheel. Everyone buys HRE. I haven't heard anyone mention BBS once, and I consider them to be one of the world's best.

Maybe I am missing something? what gives?

Well the thing about HRE wheels is that they come in fantastic styles. There is a choice for almost every taste.

BBS's pretty much all look very similair, and OZ didn't have the customization that HRE offered very easily.

It's called choice. HRE offers more than 6 lines, each line with upto ten different styles.

Coupled with fantastic service and a really good record, it's almost a no-brainer when you want something easy and custom so you can have the unique look.

Yeah but there are a lot of other brands with different styles. Not all within the same brand, but certainly someone like OZ has a huge lineup and I never have heard them mentioned. There is no particular HRE style that no one else has.... and the wheels are not exactly cheap.

I tell you what I think... I think HRE probably provides a bit higher dealer margins. This happens in my own business. A manufacturer that makes a decent product comes along, advertises right, and provides that extra incentive for dealers to push those products. All of a sudden that product is the darling of the industry.... and when the consumer hears dealer after dealer raving about it, they think "wow it must be great".

Of course your product has to have some merit to start with or else it will never work... but I doubt that this popularity, which happens to exist more on the MB forums than elsewhere, is based solely on the quality of the product.

Oh yeah I totally understand you. But the thing with OZ is that they don't have the attraction towards them that you can have them 'custom' made and such.

You'd be surprised how little dealers make when selling a set of HRE's because of all the competition! :o

So very true. If you don't mind me asking, what business are you in?
I typed my thing in red.

I have BBS 18" 2- piece wheels on an '04 E500 4-matic wagon and Renntech 3-piece 20" wheels on a CLS 55. The quality is outstanding and the package does enhance performance due to the lo-profile tires (Dunlop)
