porsche is jumping on board
I just saw Porsche's shot at the cls55 coming out in 2007. I haven't seen any mention of it by anyone. For Porsche to jump into a 4 dr. car market... First glance I thought it was the cls55. The "Panamera" This is just the begining (imo) of everyone getting on board the "4dr coupe" design.

The Panamera is a great vehicle in terms of design, lets hop it can keep up with the CLS55. All indications look like it will outperform the CLS55 expecially in terms of handling and raw power.

Agree. Have been following it for a while. Imho they were waiting to see how the CLS would be received and I think that answers the question. Look for one from parent VW for alot less $ ala Touareg.

I wonder what the cls55 or cls63 or what ever it will be, what powerplant they will offer by then to compete?? They could do 600+ as well perhaps.

this new Porsche will deeply impact MB CLS or anything close to it. i love my CLS but coming from a Porsche family i can expect what it can do. doesn't need a detuned CGT engine, the Cayenne Turbo engine will do the job easily. i'm just hoping it will look close to this.

The *** on the Panamera is so sweet. Just look at how fat those rear tires are. The 4 large round exhaust pipes and the probably near flat bottom.
Even the front flows so gracefully wit the rest of the car. Not to mention those wheels. Looking at the car is like having hot steamy sex, well almost lol.

From everything that I have read the PanAmera will NOT share its platform with any VW variants as was doen with the Cayenne/Touareg.
I am eagerly awaiting this "sensible" Porsche but also have the CLS55 on order

Sensible hardly I've read it will be priced around $125k, not exactly the price of a CLS 55, and more than a Maserati Quattroporte, which they will be offering with a v-12. Anybody heard diffrently about the pricing, or how long the waiting list is?

man, the maserati quattroporte is a far nicer-looking 4-door than any of those porsche panamera pix i've seen to date, including the ones in one of the big 3 magazines' currently newsstanded issue (can't recall which).
just personal taste, of course, but that's my tuppence.

it doesn't matter what the panamera looks like or what parts it use.
it'll open a whole new market for porsche, just like the cayenne did.
people who can afford it will want a carrera (gt/gt3/tt), a cayenne, and a panamera in their garage. it completes the picture. no need to get a bmw or mercedes 4-door for going to the office or to take clients out.

I agrew Arling, if it comes with the Cayenne TT engine, it'll still be hot.
Regardless of what Mercedes does to their CLS, it will never come close the HANDLING that the Panamera will have. Game over.
