19" or 20" rims

My wife's CLS55 will be coming in before Christmas and wanted to change out the rims before she gets it. How much of a ride difference is it between the 19" and 20" rims? The 20" rims look nice but was wondering if the ride will be alot more harsh and I am assuming the road bumps will be more profound.

I've got 20's on the CLS500 sport. I can tell a small difference but the car still rides great. I've got 25 series tires, which are super low profile. I live in AZ, so the streets here are very well kept. If I still lived back in Detroit, I don't think they would work as well because of all the potholes. 3k miles and counting and no problems at all.

Nice to see you gettin the new ride Arthur!~! My 2 cents would be to decide on how the car is going to be driven. If you want the speed, go with 19's. Like you said, you will feel the bump alot more with 20's then the 19's. If the car is for cruising I would say go with the 20's. You can never go wrong with 20's

I look foward to seeyin the car when it gets in...

You have to go with 20's, This is a big car, with big wells. You did not buy this car for comfort, it is looks all the way. Go with 20's and even then you will feel that you could have gone bigger.

It seems going with 20" looks the best and the ride is not sacrificed. What do you guys think of these rims, Radenergie R10:

I have 20's on my cls and my suggestion would be the same. It is about your roads. Winter roads, potholes.

Wifes car - leave the stocks on, will make snow tires easier as well

Your car - yes, put the 20's on

Blk CLS55 & E500 20" HRE's
Thumbs up Go with the 20"s

If you are looking for a woman's point of view.

I live in LA, (pot hole city) currently drive a 2006 CLS55 and a 2005 E500. The E500 is sitting on 20" HRE 547R's, I'm in the process of selling the E500 with the rims. But I did drive the E500 for a month before I changed the rims out. The ride difference for me is very minor, in exchange for the look. I have driven over some pot holes, unavoidable living in LA and so far no damage. I'm sure that AZ roads are smoother than LA. My suggestion would be to make sure that you get some good 3 pc rims, if you are worried.

I am currently looking around for some rims for the CLS55. Thinking about going with the HRE's again, or Lowenhart LD5's, but I'm not sure if they will be able to stand up to LA driving.

Great car. :p

I am glad to hear a woman's opinion on the 20" vs 19" rims since the CLS55 will be for the wifey. My wife can care less about changing out the rims but since I get to drive it once in a while, I want to make sure it looks bad ***.

Vellano wheels?

Hello, how about Vellano wheels? Did you go to the SEMA show where they had Vellano VSH on the F430. Anyway, Kronen Tuning has an introductory offer of 15% of Vellano and HRE wheels for this month only. If you are interested, please email at info@kronentuning.com.

Do some HRE 840/841's in 20 inch. The hidden rivet design looks much smoother and will be easier to keep clean. Saw a lowered CLS with 21s the other day and it looked pretty good, but I can't imagine how many flats that guy is going to get.
