Build Slot

Had to take my e320 to get serviced this past week, so I figured I'd pay my sales rep a visit and see how I was doing on the list.

He wasn't there but i was able to speak to him. He assured me that as soon as he got in that he would call me and let me know how I was doing in line. He also told me that a build slot had just become available that he may be able to put me in considering I already gave my deposit.

I got the call later during the week that I can be next and that the car can be here in 4 months.

I have to get back to him tomorrow and give him the final OK. Just wanna make sure that we have all the options correct, don't want to wait 4 months and end up with something I did not want.

I'll keep you guys posted, can't wait seems it will be here a little sooner than expected.

Well ..

Based on everything I've heard and read on this board, don't you HAVE to get the 030 performance package? If I were in the market for an awsome car like you have coming there is no way I'd skip it.

Perhaps those few who have recieved their CLS55's with the 030 can chime in?

Just my .02 cents! Congrats on the build slot .. sounds like one hell of a beast you'll be driving!

Talking 030

I thought about the package but I rather put the money on some 20's and other minor changes that I would enjoy more.

My wife would'nt let me get the e55 she thought it was to much money 3 years ago, so we compromised and i got a fully loaded 320. After my last speeding ticket that cost me over 2000 by the time the attorney got involved so they would not suspend my license I don't really need anything faster.

for me its more the look of the car, now mind you I always said that my next mecerdes would atleast have to be a 55

Clos. I'm with you. I really like the looks and don't really plan to race the car.

Would not get my money out of the 030 considering what I do with it.

We drove it to the Greenbrier today in West Virginia and even the toll booth operator asked us what kind of "Mercedes" it was.

Valets parked it right up front at a 5 star resort.

Factory look

I like to keep that car as clean as possible. Specially something so strong and beautiful like the cls.

The mods I intend on doing are more for looks than anything else. I feel the 55 power is more than enough for me. Traffic down here in miami is worse and worse don't really have the place to really get my moneys worth on the 030 package.

So while i'm sitting in rush-hour traffic driving to the beach at a whopping avg. speed of lets say 10miles an hour. Atleast the car will look sick.

Mods:

have the car lowered.
20 x 9 in front
20 x 11 in rear
I like the zone I've seen them on another car here I think they look great. I am ordering them in a brushed aluminum. I will add the carlsson front lip spoiler and the rear glass wing spoiler.

these minor changes will hopefuuly give the car a sick look while mainting the overall appearance of the car.

just my 2 cents!

Hi Clos,

That's exactly what happened to me. I wanted to check my order (that was beginning of November) and FORTUNATELY, my SA wasn't in that day...

So I talked to another guy who - what I found out on my next visit - was the second sales-manager... I was number 6 on the waiting-list and just on the day I came in - they got an additional slot (he told me it would be some kind of "general" slot so they could use it for any car they want). Basically, I "overtook" everybody in front of me, even those guys who were already waiting longer than me... :p

Just curious: How can you be number 1 on the list but delivery takes 4 months from now?? That's quite a while, IMO.....

You need to correct your signature - shows delivery in 2007....

Several responses

FloridaE55

I will find out today how long it will take for delivery, I have been playing phone tag with my SA. I will post as soon as I know.. then I will update my SIG

AMG_55
not offended at all, but looking at my post i did not say which zone it was. Zone 3 are the ones i'm considering they are very much like the HRE945. I'm not a fan of lowenharts. Just to give you an example i have the old Enkie V1 on my e320. I had pictures of the car after I had it detalied but somehow my wife deleted them. I had spent 2 days doing the Zaino Bros wax... best damn polish I have ever seen. I'm to old fashioned when it comes to wheels like something nice and suttle

Just my opinion but get the 030 option. Having the LSD, stiffer suspension and composite brakes are things that would be more costlier and difficult to obtain later on.

If I were you, I'd wait for the cls63 with 030 package. Just wait a few months longer.... and spend a tiny bit more... over the life of the car, the increase in price is peanuts

Ok, after a week of playing phone tag with SA I finally spoke to him late Thursday afternoon.

There was no good news at all. My SA thought he had overheard that there was a build slot avialable but he was wrong, when he inquired on my order the dealer said that there was really nothing they could do at this time. According to my SA the dealer is not to happy on the support from the factory with this car. Seems that they keep losing deals becuase their delivery time is not so good.

He explained that they where only allowed 2 CLS55 a month, and that I was not the only one who was complaining about time. Don't really know if to believe him or not. But i ran in to an old friend that had just gotten his CLS500 from the same dealer and he told me it was a nitghtmare. That 4 months turned in to 6 months. and that everytime he spoke to the dealer he felt that they had no idea what was going on with the car.

Well this is not such bad news to me. Gives me more time to think about the upgrades that I want to do. So it seems that i still have to wait till May 06 for the car.
