Thinking of a Ford GT.. any 55 owner have one?

I am thinking of adding to or replacing my CLS55 with a Ford GT I can pick up for a decent deal. Just was wondering if anyone owns one or both. I'm going to drive it this weekend but wanted to put out the feelers for some objective ownership feedback.

thnx

Eh, I've driven one and I find it to be astoundingly built, at least for a Ford. I would make a move of such if I didn't enjoy MBs luxury as much as I do. I'm unsure of what you'd be spending, but I would take a look at an '07 911 Turbo, I believe it is just as fast, but you get handling beyond dreams and quite a bit of accomodations as well, but then the Ford looks like a sex star, go with your gut, but I've owned the new Turbo and would reccomend it over any car between 100K and 150K.

If I had to chose I would also take a 997 turbo over the ford gt.. That car has to much plastic inside and cant say I like the styling..

X2 I don't think that FORD comes close to Porsche in any category Styling, quality, handling.

I have a cls55 & Ford GT, Once you own a GT or P car it a different category, we talking supercar now, I don't enjoy my CLS as much now that I have the GT. If you like power, speed and performance go for it, either one. After driving supercars, MB & BMW are just another car in the street. It's not the same, I sorry, the cls is a good car but different, but not as exciting. My 2 cents

I must agree. Sold the 360 to get the CLS. Just not the same class but neither is the upkeep. I do like the ability to go fast with 4 people.

I'd get it if you are planning to add it to your CLS55. Gotta love the power of American Supercars even if the quality looks like a car from Toy-R-Us!

Thanks for the input all. I actually had the opportunity to get the 997 turbo several months ago but I am really disappointed in the styling. To me it looks like a bad body kit on a 996 and to pass on it really says something since I love Porsche and the 997 performance. The GT can be had for around 35k under sticker and has 200 miles on it so it's hard to pass up. I'll make the decision after I drive it.

You'll go with the GT - they're fantastic cars.

Absolutely incredible on the track.

One of those once-in-a-lifetime cars.

a few...
The way you go through cars and with how many you have... why not do yourself a favor and get a GT? You know will love it and hell, if you don't... then just sell it. You only live once and owning a GT is definitely something you should not pass up.

One in every color duh!

The GT is Ford's Halo car. There's just a different appeal. You cannot go wrong.

Speed Thrills..........

For what it is worth, the Ford GT is reasonably buildable........Depending on your willingness to spend a little, the car can and has been modified with a twin-turbo setup that works on the street and puts out over 1000 RWHP................I kid you not...........

when they finished with that Ford GT, you could NOT even begin to get the gas pedal to the floor until you were well into third gear unless you wanted to: A. Melt the tires
B. Spin out and hit the wall.
Personally, I liked the idea..............

Whatever.......

I've seen the movie as well. In my opinion, it's fun to drive a very powerfull car, but one that you can make use of the power. Clearly on that car, as you said you can put the gas pedal to the floor unless you are in third gear indicating that the car cannot handle all the power.

if you are over 6ft the gt sucks. not very comfortable. my buddy who is 6-2 had to duck when he closed the door. also if you have any size at all your not going to be comfortable. it felt very narrow.

the only two ++ i can give it is the stereo rocked. and it handled awesome.
was not impressed by the power at all. plus you pay 150k for something with a ford logo on the front, doesnt even differ from there everyday car.

just my .02

Not impressed with the power? Shouldn't the GT stock be pretty close to your Z06 ? I would think any car in the 3s 0-60 would be hard to complain about power.

Although Ford GT is good, Ferrari F430 or Gallardo SE are much better. Read the Ford GT forum, the build quality is crap and there were a lot of initial problems. Even doors have been know to simply fall off! Not something you'd expect from a 150,000$ car. Having said that, if you plan on modifying your car, Ford GT is a good choice because you can tune it to 700hp failry easy with pulley/ecu, headers, and exhaust. If you plan on staying stock, I can't imagine anyone picking a Ford GT over a Ferrari or a Lambo.

speed thrills-

the power is really not the same. the gt "stock" might have a little more umph..but the Z Pulls alot harder.. now that i have some mods to my z. its night and day. you cant even compare the gt..

T-
yeah the build quality was quite bad. alot of plastic. very differant materials used. the rear hatch flexed alot. defiantly cant compare it to my 360..but then again the FURD is a 100k cheaper...
