2007 AMG Challenge CLS63 goes for $73k at auction

Hey guys,

I've followed this forum for quite awhile, but never registered to post until now. At any rate, I thought you'd find this interesting...

I attended a highline sale at dealer auction in West Palm Beach, FL today. There were about 10 different MBs from the AMG Challenge at Road Atlanta, one of which was a gorgeous sand-colored CLS63 with 1,2XX miles on it that went for $73k. Sticker was $99.5k.

As a sidenote, all the AMG Challenge cars were closed sales so only other MB dealers could bid on them. I hate to think what the cars will be marked up to. There were 3 silver E63s with less than 1k miles each and I think they each brought somewhere in the high $60s.

Must have been homestead, there was no challenge at Road Atlanta.

73K is insane!!!!

E63's in the 60's .......

This is why our resale values are so low.

think about it. mb drives the hell out of the cars at the challenge and it is cheaper to sell wholesale to a mb dealer only than to load up on carrier and transport to another location. they don't go that cheap to non-mb dealers unless they have been damaged.

Does this information show up on car facts? Are they going to disclose it to the customer upon buying?

As long as they honor the warranty on the car what does it matter? These cars are built to be driven.

Sorry about that, the cars must've been from Homestead. That'd make more sense why they were at the WPB auto auction.

Ironically, I can see a dealer marking these cars up, not down, as a "limited edition." The cars are built to be raced and I don't see any issues with picking one up, but certainly not at a premium!

CLS55's are going for mid 70k's on the west coast at the Riverside Highline.

The selling price of the CLS63 at WPB is an anomaly. All Mercedes vehicles have moderate to poor resale values, especially after the first year.

Yes, the dealer *should* disclose this information to the retail customer.

Cheap!!

Did they still have the "amg Challenge" stickers on them??

I'm going to the next wpb highline sale, I hope they have some more 63 Challenge cars..

I buy a few cars for my local Benz dealer so I could bid with their number. I bet they would fight me for it at that price!!

pdobbs, Are you a dealer? what other sales do you go to?? I go to most Altanta Highline sales.

Yes, all the cars still had the stickers on them. They were actually quite tasteful. I think this past week was the last highline sale of the year. I'd be surprised if anymore of them show up, but who knows. I'm not a dealer, but my father is. I was there with him.

Yeah, that was my first question. I think they should be required to say what it was for in its previous life.

To those of you that say "who cares", make sure you attend a challenge first. I would NEVER buy one of those cars, but I did enjoy pouncing on them.
