Distronic and Parktronic option... are they worth the money?

options that I turned down were Distronic and Parktronic...

Reason for the distronic is that I know I won't use cruise control (or hardly ever) and I wouldn't need computer to watch the distance for me... so it's not practical for me to put it on my cls... (may be usuful to someone else)

secondly, for parktronic... i was very disappointed by parktronic in the CLS at the dealership.. because I was expecting somewhat New S or New CL like interface for the Parktronic... if it's just a beeping device... NO THANKS... well, to be honest... I was actually really really disappointed at the benz parktronic...(except for those are in the new S and CL) I mean... even Lexus IS have them with Camera and all gadgets...infinitis do too.. I don't think beeping device is worth a grand... opinion please... do people really use them? (because I don't use them even it's on the car. and it's annoying!)

I have both.
Distronic is just to show your friends how cool your car is. Utterly useless otherwise.
Parktronic works GREAT and I could not would not live without it. Trust me, the beeping + lights is all you need. It might be cooler to get other interface but what you get on the CLS is all you really need.

I have both Distronic and Parktronic, I love them both.
I drive 60mi a day though and park in a very crowded parking lot at school.

I have parktronic, and it's useful, but I wish the CLS had the backup camera like the S.

My Infiniti has a backup camera and I love it.

If you ask me adding those is almost impossible or will cost you a fortune later.

To add parktronic you'll have different front and rear bumpers + dash and roof light assembly + electronics + buttons.

As for distronic. I would say not that easy. Front grill is different. Radar is built in to the grill. Then you have the toggle button and the wheel + software.

So don't go that route. If you have to cancel your order and reorder then that's what I would do. Not for the distronic cause I wouldn't get it again but the parktronic.

I know that's not the answer you were hoping for but that's what it is. Now with that said, there are people that have done the retrofit successfully but I am not sure how much they paid for it.

so should I cancel my order just for the parktronic? well.. reason why I started to care about is that in 2 years, I might have to decide whether I'll stay in U.S. or go back to Korea(of course fellaz...south korea). If i have to move back to korea, I have to sell this baby... would parktronic hurt the value so much? like I mention, I personally don't use parktronic because when I'm used to drive in Korea (even tighter space and smaller space to park) I drove without the parktronic sensor (it really bothers me...) I thought it wouldn't hurt the value that much because of rareness of my combo and parktronic on CLS is nothing like new S... if it will hurt the value so much, I might have to consider the cancelation... hoo...I think i should have asked in this forum before I placed order... I just turn 20 and I guess this is the way to learn things for young people ...

Oh dude, don't worry about it then. If you don't like it then don't get it. It won't effect the value of the car much at all. If you didn't have NAV that would be a different story but parktronic won't make much of a difference either way.

I disagree. Distronic is one of my favorite options...especially if you drive in traffic.

No it does not drive the car for you but handles the slow-and-speed-up thing very well.

I love it myself as well. I have both and they are great features. Distronic can be added to the CLS with no problem.

I find parktronic helpful being that the passenger mirror doesnt fold down . Anyhow, if you havent ordered it yet, I hate to be the one to tell you, but it sounds too late. They build the cars in 10 day periods, now for you to be able to change your order this late the car would have to be one of the last ones on the line. It is possible, but dont worry about it since neither is necessary and if you dont want either, you dont need them. Parktronic will not help resale in my opinion, in fact you may even find people looking for cars without parktronic on it since the bumpers are cleaner looking. Either way dont sweat it, just get ready for the new car in about a month.

Oh, dealer said there is another identical car is in production line except that one has FULL OPTION. I means CLS63 with all the options possible... still color will be the same as mine (designo graphite) with 030 pkg... but only thing different than mine is that it's equipped with distronic and parktronic...and he is saying I would have to pay $3500 more than my car if i want that car... very attemting... ah, by the way, when I paid the deposit, he said my car will be finished on Feb 28th.. which i checked with him on the screen... but when I asked him today, he said it will be finished in april something... (something like April 10th or something) how can this be? he didn't even inform me that it will be delayed... and he still says that i can't add those two options.. can this heppen? he said it will be delivered to here definately in second week of April... I am a bit pissed at him because all he can say is "I don't know... i don't have anyone in factory line to talk to... all I know is that they can change the schedule at any time" I guess when they change the schedule, they would inform someone at least... i'm getting disappointed at local MB's (i'm not talking about all in U.S.) service.

Distronic - I wouldn't pay for it but it is the only way I would use cruise control on the highway. Makes for a relaxing worry free drive.

Parktronic - very useful for parking in tight spots, I love the way the light system tells you how close and then it beeps when you're really close. Worth it IMO if you park often and in tight spots.
