Is your outside air temperature reading right?
I noticed the outside air temperature reading that's on the readout on top of the speedometer wildly fluctuates.
I live in south Florida and when I got in the car today, it read 82 degrees which was about right. I start driving around and it starts going up to 132 degrees and then back down to 100 degrees and back again.
It seems almost as if the sensor is buried somewhere inside the engine.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem or do you think there's something wrong with mine?

Mercedes are notorious for this. This is becasue the outside temp gauge is right below the front spoiler. it picks up the road temp, not ambient temp. It is a joke..

I agree. My temperature guage is incorrect the majority of the time. A few weeks ago, the bank sign indicated that the temperature was -11 and the car thermometer read +9 degrees. WTF????

When it is 80 outside the display says 132. Too lazy to take it to dealer just for that. Plus, they will need to keep it to order a part, etc.

Sounds highly likely to me that if you're expierencing getting in the car and the temp in incorrect and then after driving the temp goes up, your temp sensor is knocked out of its mounting point and into the engine compartment area. This is very common with mercedes when the front bumper comes in contact with the ground. The front bumper flexes and in turn the grill in the bumper that holds the temp sensor flexes as well causing the sensor to fall out. So in turn your temp sensor is now sitting inside the engine compartment and as the engine and radiator start putting off heat the temp sensor starts registering the higher temps inside the engine compartment.
I'm not sure of the exact location of the temp sensor in the bumper of the CLS, but when I see one I will check it out and update this thread with the location.

When I first start driving its higher then the actual temp but after a few miles it is spot on and exactly matches the bank signs along the roadway.
