Bridgestone vs Michelin...Your thoughts?
Bridgestone
Potenza RE050A - $261 Fronts / $283 Rears
vs.
Michelin Pilot
Sport PS2 - $349 Fronts / $440 Rears
Are the Bridgestone's so far less superior? Or are they worth a try?

My last set Kumhos $400 set (great deal) now over $540 a set, and I would try the Bridgestones in a heartbeat, they look like a good deal.

I hate the bridgestones, my Lexus feels like a Ford now
Firestone talked me into these so called high end Bridgestones when my Michelins wore out. Boy am
I unhappy with them, and mad at myself for getting talked into these bouncy tires. The ride went from smooth as a Catellac, even with my old dried out tires as they described them, to Honda Civic bouncy. Believe me I know, my wife drives a Honda Civic bounce mobile.
We owned a Ford Exporer once, I loved it's look, but I HATED the bouncy ride. Got rid of that Explorer just before it's design flaw hit the media. Now my smooth Lexus rides lake that Explorer did. Man am I unhappy.
I may have the road performance of my old not rod, but I sure don't have the Lexus ride anymore. If you like the Michelin ride, a smooth as glass ride, DO NOT buy the Bridgestones!! When I got the Bridgestones off my other car, a Maxima, and put Michelins on it, it was handled totally different. What joy that car finally was to drive after the Michelins were put on it.
The Bridgestones are physically smaller too, so you've got to consider what that's going to look like on your vehicle. My Lexus looks a lot meeker now. Smaller is not better, just as my wife....

CLS55 AMG, FX45, GS300, Acura TL, Galant, Diamante,
None of those...i'd go Conti Sports for sure...harder tires...less chance of bending your wheel...and crazy performance

After being a Michelin man for most of my life, I wanted to try something cheaper. Ratings on Tirerack for the Bridgestone RE960's were exxcellent so I gave it a try. No, this isn't the Bridgestone model mentioned in the thread but I still wanted to give my opinion.
The Bridgestone doesn't come close to matching the PS2 but for the money, I can't complain. Not super quiet but more quiet than most. Not super sticky and if I did have a complaint that would be it. I feel very confident in the rain and after 10K miles they still look brand new so they last a while.
I've tried other brands throughout the years but I always go back to Michelin and I will again. They are simply the best tire in the world.

Both are great tires, but if money were no object I'd get the PS2's. For the difference in price I'd get the RE050's, they are OEM and definetly the better value!

You should also consider the pirelli p zero's, my car came with them, and i cannot say that ive had any significant issues with them, bear in mind that the roads in Egypt are among the worst on the planet. So overall it is safe to say that they will withstand lots of tormenting.

followup on my 1st report on Bridgestones
We just got back from a trip to the east coast, from Texas. My gas mileage is DOWN 4.5mpg with these new Bridgestones. I couldn't believe that number when I first noticed it, but the Lexus computer and gas bill both match this disappointing performance.
There's is a lot more tread meeting the road with the pattern on these Bridgstones. Doesn't that translate into more resistance, more heat, and less mileage?
