Trapster.com- Speed traps alert on cell phone

I came across this and it's a must have....

Check out this link:

Your mobile phone or navigation device alerts you as you approach police speed traps.

The next best thing to on board radar detectors.

Your worst nightmare...
This is good if the person who sees the speed trap is willing to help the other person out. What if he is disgruntled and just doesn't give a ratz...lol...then we have a problem... It is definitely a good idea but there has to be involvement by the other party.

I also suggest getting the new Passport 9500XI. I recently upgraded to this radar. excellent choice, have a full data base of camera light intersection. GPS locater, and it also learn as you drive on locations that not listed.

The last time I checked they did not have a Windows Mobile version yet, but they do now! Thanks for the reminder!

It uses GPS on my windows mobile PPC6800 to show my position on the map and record trap locations. How does it work on the iPhone? It doesn't bounce off of the cell towers, does it?

I had to turn off the audible alerts for "police often hide here" because there were so many of them. It did save me from one of those mobile speed cameras the second day I had it! I've yet to run across a "live police" alert.

It also will drain my battery in about 2 hours.

I just picked my CLS55 up from having the Passport 9500ci installed. It costs much more than a cell phone, but has GPS alerts to cameras, speed traps, and detects radar while also detecting and blocking laser. I've always been a radar detector guy, but this is my first installed unit. I'll let you know how it works as time goes on.

I have had a Bel GX 65 with the monthly updated GPS installed on my CLS63 for about six months. IMO it is worth the $. I also have the laser shifter installed and it definitely works also. Just my 2 cents.

I've had Trapster for my iPhone since it was released. Seems like a lot of people use it in the Raleigh, NC area, as speed traps are posted pretty quickly!
