and carbon A2198851025

it is glued to the bumper with tape. it is an add-on part, means that if you detach it ther ewill not be a hole.

TRUNK SPOILER is the same for 55 and 63

mixed views on the style then, i personally think its too large a part to be completly CF and could spoil the rear end. The insert is nice in CF but a custom part made well would look the part.

DIFFERENCIES

were easy enough to move the tail pipes 4cm down
and move the left and the right 5cm closer to each other
.. maybe the CL or CLK diffuser (that is quite the same) would fit

but, as it is now, differencies are these

somebody made Cf diffuser for the new C class

and also somebodyelse made for the SL class

.. not my taste ..

but I didn't see anything really good for our car .. to date

yes, thats what i was trying to get made for our cars. it would be cheaper to do and simple to install. (he was estimating around 350)
just need to make the mold from an oem piece. (part number 20)
it seems that part can be removed from the rear bumper.

designing a whole new rear diffuser with fins and all that is a whole other story. i think it would look real nice though!

the price estimate was for the actual CF cover piece to be made for us if we can get enough people together to do this.

for the actual oem piece, my local dealer quoted me around $400 canadian, but i think i can get it for about 228 usd online.

i will try and see if there is a way to remove mine without damaging it.

so i have made a few enquirys and have just bought a rear amg bumper from the breakers. I am going to have my guys make a scan of this. I can do a mold for the 2 options, the insert (part 20) and a custom piece like the CL. Just need to get my hands on a CL diffuser now, but a few close up pics may also be enough to create the design.

.. you are a designer as per what I understand
and you know that details play an enormous role.

because of above highlighted differencies with CL sizes (no room to the left and to the right of taqilpipes and above them), our diffuser indeed is quite similar, regarding overall dimension, to the SL' s.

I mean, the CLS 's design is a very clean one. it is quite different from CL's car style !
.. concerning diffuser, I find it is much more conforming to our car style the bottom end of SL' s diffuser above, or Prior's than CL's ..

now, it's all about:
- NUMBER OF FINS
- shape of fins
- thickness of fins
- diffuser depth ..

... I'll scan something later and attach

the beauty of this is I can play around with the design until the majority of people give it the thumbs up but trust me, there is no way I am going to spoil the look of the rear, it has the tie in, breaker have just told me the bumper they have has no diffuser in it Ideally i want one I can cut to use as a fitment jig. Will keep looking although I wonder how much it would cost for a damaged one to be shipped from US to UK? Maybe you guys could have a look around for a damaged one ( with the OEM diffuser / apron portion in place ).

@dyno, are u sure that part number is for the 55, not the sport package with the single exhaust as below:

Posted it just for the heck of it, i like the minimalist look on it.

I like those tail pipes .. I think that is the future style

Carbon part: no doubt .. it's written in my invoice - LOL -
plastic: if not from a 55, can be from a 63.

Just got a call from the dealership

A2198850925 = They say this is a part for the front bumper for some reason. Around $450
A2198851025 = This is not coming up in their system as a part.

so, ask them directly that you need to replace your rear plastic diffuser and see what number they come up with.
or, ..I suggest change Dealer !

I don't know if this was mentioned before or not, but a company called EuroRev already makes what I believe you guys are wanting and for about $400. Here is a link to their auction on ebay:

I sent them a lot of mails and even called them more than one time. Useless.

this was one year ago when they had the same ad, for much cheaper than they have now (rear + front @ about 400). I still have copy of those ads and mails sent.
they told me that was necessary to wait .. but most times they didn't show a communication willingness.
tired of waiting and not knowing the actual quality of product , last summer I decide dfor the oem route.

if somebody lives close to them .. must go there and see !

if you are only looking for something similar in size, as a reference to be adapted for making a final new mould that fits CLS, so maybe there is still another possibility:

here is the C-class diffuser: it seems really similar to the CL ... and even closer in size to CLS.
Unfortunately I hadn't the chance to measure it, so I can't tell anything for sure.

can't find now but I have seen that part already made in Cf for sale, very cheap !

can anybody tell what size that C-class diffuser is ?

@dyno, the part number (A2198850925) you gave was correct. This is what i got from the dealership. Unfortunatrly they cant seem to track the Carbon Fiber part number. Price is around $450, i can get it for about $300.

I've tried reaching out to Eurorev as well. The email doesnt go through. Will try calling them tomorrow. The below part is what they offger for the E55. The CLS piece is identical. I would have liked if they had the color coded strip at the bottom!
