if u look on the classifieds section, there is a moderator that can get us good prices on oem parts.
i downloaded the parts list and according to that we can order it for 228.
dyno, can u show us more pics of your oem diffuser?
something that shows the diffuser and the rest of the rear end?
also, how much did u pay?

We know, its EuroRev guys. I finally cleared the issue of the CF Part # Dyno gave us. The part exists as part of the 773 Option Package. The dealership called Mercedes US infront of me and they say the part can be ordered in the US under the following circumstances only:
1) The 773 Option is choosen upon ordering a new CLS63
2) They would need the VIN number of the vehicle this part is being ordered for to prove that it is an European model and was imported into the US.
The VIN number thing is just stupid.

I tell you again:
I tried myself to pull the plastic from the edge close to the right tail pipe.
.. it was difficult .. then, that shop told me it was necessary to use a heater/phon .
I tried again , I saw that the plastic had to be stretched a bit, so decided to give 'em the car.
I only saw when the part was already off, within something like a mould, and covered with carbon.
Qhen I went there to take the car back he told me ... we will do a bit discount upon the price agreed because there's a small defect ....
I understood everything ...
I think that they got it skewed slightly differently, so maybe they tried to push strongly .. and they got a small defect / crack on the upper edge.
it was something like 1 mm difference, but you know, the moment you are aware of it you will neer be able to keep the eyes off of it all the times ..
further, the surface was not 100% plain ... it was something waving..
about one month later I gave the car to the dealer for Tail light install and, btw, said them to order a normal diffuser... also because I just received my perfect Dymag wheels and didn't want to see something wrong..
.. no financial crisis at that time, yet ..
I told them to do what they wanted with the old part.

if you are only looking for something similar in size, as a reference to be adapted for making a final new mould that fits CLS, so maybe there is still another possibility:
here is the C-class diffuser: it seems really similar to the CL ... and even closer in size to CLS.
Unfortunately I hadn't the chance to measure it, so I can't tell anything for sure.
can't find now but I have seen that part already made in Cf for sale, very cheap !
can anybody tell what size that C-class diffuser is ?

.. anybody able to tell what size the C-class and also the new SL diffusers are ?
.. should I know those dimensions, I' d have a possibility ..

just my opinion
in any case,
as already stated, it s not very easy, IMHO, make better suitable diffuser for the CLS. I think it is because of its particularly elegant design
don't get me wrong: I like hardcore diffusers .. but hardly in this car.
even the new E-class keeps a similar design:
I think the more suitable route is the style you find in the new, non-amg CLS
.. just a bit more wild

I saw this one at the VIP show in Anaheim almost 3 years ago, i thought it was kinda ugly at first then it kinda grew on me, i think its the car that made it look worse... The car was part of DPE's display,i didnt really like the car because the wheels were 19' and looked a little funny

another option
me too, when it was off I was thinking of keeping it without anything, all silver ..
I forgot to tell you guys another option I thought of at that time:
making a metal grill, same size as the stock plastic one, ... so to let "see" underneeth till our sexy differential
.. or, an SL Syle
the SL part is quite the same size ... unfortunately it is 1cm short on the extreme edges .. and it is not pass-through view
but, still GREAT LOOK ... maybe the option I loved most
.. I also asked a lot of guys to make it for me : here and in england .. but usual difficulties
However, now I would know how to do, where to buy that same grill from, etc..
too late. I m busy with the audio installation now.

im going to try to see if i can have my oem diffuser removed today.
if it can be done without damaging it then i will pass it on to my friend so that he can make the mold to make a CF rear diffuser.

if your friend is close enough to you, it would be safer to make the mould directly from the bumper with the diffuser removed

ill ask him about that.
but i think its easier for me to just give him the oem diffuser.
i hope i can get it done by monday since im going to be leaving town for a few weeks.

ok i was able to have the oem diffuser removed without damaging the piece. i cant believe how they charge so much for that thin and flimsy piece of plastic. anyways i have given it to my friend to have the mold made and then he will use that to make a CF version for us.
here's a pic of my car's semi naked rear end

@jikjak
Good going man. As you have done this first hand, can you write something up to help the rest remove their oem diffuser cover. Any pointers?
BTW i installed my EuroTeck CF Lip yesterday. Noticed 2 things that i want to share:
1) DO NOT install the piece in sub freezing temperature. Yesterday it was 25 Deg F here and all the stress on the part makes the clearcoat crack!
2) The part is a bit big from side to side. If you align it with one side, it is about an 1 1/2" wider than the bumper on the other. If you start screwing it in from the aligned side, by the time you end up atthe other you are left with about a 1/2 " inch gap. I would recommend you start from the middle (front of car) while having the gap divided to both sides. a 3/4 " gap on each side will be filled when you screw it in.
I wish someone had posted something about this before!

Man1: show us some pics of the cf lip! is it front lip?
i wasnt the one that actually removed the rear diffuser, my detailer friend did it.
from what i saw, he just took his time and use a plastic trim piece tool to slowly tear at the adhesive behind it to remove the piece.
dyno: i would prefer cf instead of the metal grill.
mini update: i met with my friend again yesterday because he needed to make a wooden frame to make sure that he gets the curve/bend of the oem diffuser. since the oem piece is such a thin piece of flimsy plastic, it can flex to take the shape of our curved rear bumper. anyways, cf doesnt flex so this piece has to be made with that curve taken into account. so now everything is ready to go and hes going to have the mold made which will enable him to make the CF part we want. i will keep u guys posted as i receive new info and hopefully some pics as this progresses. its going to take a few weeks so please be patient guys!
