tire pressure sensors?
I made a wheel swap but forgot about the wheel sensors. Someone mentioned to me that I should use the lorinser sensors since they mount better than the stock? Apparently the stock ones require some sort of strap on aftermarket wheels.
I'm on brabus monoblock VIs if that matters.
Anyone have any comment on how this works?

it all depends where the valve's hole is positioned
it must look to the side, not upward
no strap need even here

Yes, it does. There is a little vehicle symbol under one of the menus which displays the pressure for each tire. This option was only available on CLS55 w/030 package, though...actually works very well: checked it against an acutire, & both gave the same reading.

Most aftermarket wheels on the market today are compatible with the stock TPMS sensors. So far I have never had to strap the sensors on any of the wheels I have sold. Talk to the shop that is selling you the wheels and see if those wheels are TPMS compatible.
Most of the 63's I have worked on do have TPMS sensors in the wheels.
With the 55's, its a 50/50 percentage which ones do have the TPMS sensors.

On page three, it lists: 475 Tire Pressure Monitoring System(1)1 N/A $410 .
Then, at the bottom of the page, it explains footnote (1):
(1) = Can only be ordered in conjunction with the AMG Performance Package (030)
Probably was available in Europe as an option, but they always stiff us over here.

I think even if you do not have the TPMS monitors, you do have the flat tire moniter which is based off of the ABS sensors, or the speed sensors. I personally could care less for the TPMS system.

yes i have the flat tire monitor. it just lights up when it senses that one of the tires is low on air. id rather have individual psi readings of each tire though.
dyno how did u get that retrofit done?
do i just buy the sensors and then do some programming with the star diagnostic system?

Opinions vary. I personally like being able to check the tire pressure while driving, as opposed to having to get out, take the little caps off one at a time and get brake dust all over my fingers, yadda yadda ya....not an essential thing to have, but I'm glad it's on there.

Not in the US, at least according to the 2006 CLS ordering guide:

I may be mistaken but seems to recall that the Beru 433mhz system was available since 2004 ..maybe earlier
but at that time nobody cared about that thing ... me too I wa sthinking better have a (useless) skisac as an option !
really don't know when and why for US a Siemens 315mhz (or something like that) was adopted instead ..

try to search in a few months old posts
in any case, it's not easy because you need the control module, antennae and run a lot of wires
.. further, if you hav ea cls, depending on your month/year production date you could have serious difficulties with reprogramming.
with the E-class you'll not have the same difficulties
.. now that I'm reasoning.. maybe I'm confusing with the E-class and for cls was indeed available later here in europe, too
