Extended warranty

Hello,

I reference to my first post, I got this CPO CLS63 2007 last week. I'm wondering if I should extend my warranty? Mine is up Nov. 2011. Car is in good shape, 28K miles. It was a lease return vehicle from the same dealership I bought it from, so they had all the maintenance info, though that's in the Carfax anyway. I see what they did for reconditioning, they spent about $3000 replacing parts and what not (their cost).

Wondering what others have done. Extended warranty is kind of pricey, but then I suppose fixes are also. I would assume problems are mostly with electronics. I can see the trunk closer, or the sun shade going fairly quickly.

I will admit I bought the rim and tire warranty, having had experience previously with low profile tires, I thought it might come in handy.

Any advice appreciated.

I just bought an extended warranty for 2 years on top of the CPO year. The warranty is refundable if you do not use it. I'm in the process of recouping my old warrant from my E55 which i never used.

I paid $4,850 for the additional 2 years.

I too bought the Wheel and tire package. I paid $700 (negotiated rate) This is probably the 1st time I've taken the plunge on something like that. I have had 19'' rims in the past and in Los Angeles, you're bound to have multiple blowout over the course of 3 years. My dealer actually told me that they will resurface my rims if I curb rash them. Something tells me that he was full of **** (I will need to confirm that).

Dr. Mike. FJ's finance department has been very straight forward with quotes on CPO extended warranties. I believe i called them and asked them the 2 year cpo extension would cost on that exact car you just bought. They quoted me a bit less than listed here. I'm going to buy a warranty extension through MB for peace of mind. It seems like you either end up wasting the money or end up paying 2x what the warranty will cost you in repairs.

But having a zero deductible warranty though MB seems to be ideal. I've looked into the easy care program and was told by one of their dealers that I was nuts if I was thinking of going with easy care vs. the MB warranty. (And they told me to buy the warranty from the dealer i bought the car from rather than try to sell me their easy care warranty.) I'm going to get a easycare quote on my car as well, but I think i'll still go with the MB warranty.

Is that 4850 for both the wheel and tire and the cpo extension? Otherwise seems a bit high for what i've been quoted on a CLS63. I think the biggest hook is that most people want to finance that big of a payment... so though to shop around.

I believe I was quoted the same for an extra two years.

I drive all around southern california, mainly Los Angeles, and the roads are crap (except for orange county where the roads are nice). Having had low profiles and Volk rims on my last car, I figured I get into a problem with these wheels eventually, so I bought that.

I was told the same thing, if I curb the rims they will fix it.

I will look into the MB Warranty.

The $4850 was for the 2 additonal years of warranty.

It was $700 for the wheel and tire package

You should check out the Chrysler warranty. I just got one for my IWC CLS55 with the Road/Tire package, I got a 5 year 70k miles warranty, so I have a warranty until Dec 2014 and/or 110k miles ( i currently have 40K on it) for just under $3500. If you read through the forums, that is what most of the the people use and it covers all the AMG parts. I've never had to use the warranty but from what i've read and talked to other that have, no one has had any issues or problems with them. Hope this helps

Hi Miami, did you use ziegler? I tried calling them and could never get anyone to call me back. Kind of worried me. Also a little bit worried about Chrysler staying in business. Ford seems to be the only one that is taking care of business these days. Something else bothered me about the chysler warranty. When i go to the site it will only quote me for a "New Vehicle Policy" which is effective from the in service date. So i need to buy like a 7 yr 100k miles plan or something like that. vs. a policy that stars from the day i purchase it.

Yes I used Ziegler, Michael Case there. I never thought twice about Chrysler staying in business, i personally think that there is no way that the gov't would allow them to go under (my two cents).

Anyway this is what you need to do, go to their website and fill out the form. Dont' pay for it, just get a quote. Then you will receive an email from Michael with the quote. Then all i did was email him and told him exactly what i wanted and he adjusted everything and sent me a new quote. I never got him on the phone, i only called him once though. Others have talked to him and said that he was very nice and efficient.

I also financed it so worst case if they do go under, i'll just dispute it with American Express but i really have no worries with that.

Just ask me if you have any more questions.

Thanks

not a bad idea. Worst case we are all be paying for your warranty repairs! LOL. I'll have to give that a look again. The thing i worry about the most is the "wear and tear" clauses in the after market warranties and the need for them to send an "inspector". So when one of my shocks go pop. They will say, oh that's wear and tear. Have yet to hear of that happening with a MB warranty, but i guess it's possible.
