May have totaled my CLS55

So I was cruising to pick up a part for my garage and was stopped at a red light when I hear the dreadful tire screech...look in rear view and get SLAMMED!!!

Some girl in a full size van was not paying attention and rear ended me. She said she was doing about 40-50 to the cops. It pushed me into the two cars in front of me as well....ended up getting transported to the ER with some pretty good head, back, neck, chest, and pelvic pain but CT Scan and Xrays came back clear. Really sucks as my beast may be totaled. Rear damage very bad and pretty good damage to the front bumper, fenders and hood as well. An ideas if you guys think it would be totaled?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention she HAS NO INSURANCE of course...

Since I really never posted much on my car here is what she had done to her:

2006 CLS55
20" Maya wheels black face polished lip
Star Lowering
Resonator Delete
Carlson Front Lip
Tinted Tail lights and side markers
Akebono front and rear ceramic pads (loved them..virtually dustless)
Aftermarket Sirius with display hidden in ashtray and antenna hidden under plastic hood vent

Now we'll see if I am getting some cash for it and go looking for a new toy....time for some vicodin and an epsom salt bath

Man that sucks. I'm glad you are OK. I know it's just a car which can most certainly replace but I would have gone medival on that chick.

I had an '07 C230 and some girl in an F150 made a left turn into my path when I was doing about 50 mph. Heavy damage to the left front corner of the car, bad enough to bend the frame, mangle the core support, rupture the radiator, A/C condenser, break the wheel, blow the tire, etc. etc. That was $19K in damage, and enough to total the car.

Based on your photos, I think you'll be getting a new car.

Glad you're OK If the airbags blew too....think it's safe to say that a new car is in order...she was uninsured

Look at the alignment of the doors after that 50mph hit.....got to love Mercedes for that....MB FOR LIFE !!!

Glad you are ok.

I have seen less damage to a CLS and they totaled it.

40-50 mph is heavy. I bet you are happy you were not in a SMART car. Huh?

Number 1. Hope you have uninsure motorist coverage. If not, you may be in a heap of hurt.

Your liablity and Property damage coverages will cover the cars that you hit. Hopefully you have more than the state minimum. $500K liability coverage may help you to sleep at night.

In any event, when this is over and after all the insurance settlements, I bet that you would have paid that little **** $5k not to have hit you.

I talk with experience. Hope you recover from your injuries.

Thanks for all the well wishes fellas. I have max coverage on all aspects of my policy so hopefully that will be enough to cover everything.

If totaled I want another CLS but may hold off a bit to see when the new body is actually coming out. It was my 3rd car so don't necessarily need anything right now. I am tempted however by the Ferrari 360 sitting on the used lot of my local MB dealer

Also, anyone know if it is totaled if they would let me swap my wheels off it as they were unharmed and I could get a couple g's for them?

Typically, anything that is not factory installed is not insured. I would get the wheels swapped ASAP.

Hope your wounds heal. It looks total. My front bumper (70mph vs wall) took about 3 months and 34k to repair. And that was just the front bumper, you got both ends so I dunno, tough call.

A Mercedes obviously!
Glad to see you're OK. My father's W210 was rear-ended at a similar speed in the UK about ten or twelve years back. Between the damage to his car (about $30k) and the rental W210 he had while his was being mended (6 weeks $450/day) it was a fairly expensive claim off the other person's insurance. Beside some minor chiropractic work he was fine. Benzs really are solid

Glad your ok.
Man I would be sick!
Seen some pics of a CLS on the auto bond that rear-end another car @ 150+ and the driver walked away ok! One amazing car.
Safe to say this one safest car to be in.
Definitely get those Rims and tires! You may need them for that New CLS. Hope that new style looks as good!
Bad thing is your only going to get Blue Book. There not going to pay for all of the extras you have on her.

Yup it was pretty solid...all 4 doors still opened although the rear felt pretty stuck and didn't close perfectly.

Blue book may not be too bad if they will go by CPO value as it was a CPO with 6/100 on it..that books it at like $48k. I really hope they total it as I would not want to be driving it knowing the visible damage that occurred.

If they were to fix it it would need a completely new rear end, front end including fenders and hood, and I also think the roof may have been bowed a bit. That is without any other internal damage on the rear and under the hood. I know at least radiator was done. I really think rear frame was probably damaged as well...I guess we'll see.

Thanks for all the good words guys...bummer losing it but its only a piece of metal and I did walk away without anything serious.

Now the fun begins....insurance adjusters phone calls start in the am.

Looks like a write-off to me. I hope you find yourself an equal or if not a better CLS! I know how it feels. GL

Which rocker panel was it on yours? If it is that much I'm sure mine is done.

I guess that's what I get for taking an AMG to Palmdale/Lancaster...should have taken my daily driver...

Crap. Sorry.

I didn't mention it on here, or to many people actually, but the first week I had my car I got rear ended, BY ONE OF MY PARTNERS! $1500 damage- low impact. He was really good about it, just wrote me a check, so I didn't bother to tell anyone at work.

Was she talking on a cell phone? I'm so tired of seeing these people (women) talking on cell phones. In this state we have a law, that nobody follows.

Watch your neck, the true injury manifests itself later. Hopefully, you are OK, and the car is solid.

WOW! Sorry to see. Might be better if they total it. The car will never drive the same after a really hard hit like that.
