Nice choice. I have not heard of a SC failing. The only real issue is the airmatic suspension failing every once in a while. I personally have had 3 E55 with airmatic and the CLS55 and have never had a problem. These cars are pretty bulletproof when maintained properly and respected. My AMG mechanic said he would do an airmatic shock replacement for $700 if it were to fail so I am not to worried. Welcome and enjoy the torque!

I've seen tons of older S class vehicles slammed to the ground, and sitting on lots due to airbag failure. Hope that's not us in a few years

I've come from an M5 and must say I'm happy with my choice. Now I'm not a big track junkie so if handling and road feel is your cup of tea I'd say go M5. But if you want raw power, you hopped on the right ship

CLS55 AMG
Problem - I traded a Navigator for a CLS55 AMG and was not yet used to the low front end. Love the car but I made a rookie mistake - I ran the nose up over a curb and cracked the front "apron". Any suggestions on fixing it w/o replacing the entire piece?

Depends how badly its cracked any body shop that will repair it would probably use bondo and close up the crack and smooth everything down, paint and primer. However with the labor costs and what not, it usually is more cost effective to have them just get a refurbished bumper and paint that.

You should consider obtaining a 3rd party warranty. Fidelity, CNA, Mercury are all good reliable companies. One significant repair will more than offset the cost of the warranty.

Good luck and enjoy your xmas gift to yourself.

How badly is it cracked? When I bought my CLS the front "apron" was cracked mostly on the underside. I put a carbon fiber lip on mine which both covered the crack and made the "apron" much more sturdy. Some people even think it is more aesthetically pleasing than without the lip. It was definitely MUCH less expensive than replacing the front "apron."

LOL it will be brother, that I can almost promise you unfortunately. The seals over time will start to leak and then you'll walk out one day to find it slammed.

New bumper cover runs about $1300 unpainted. Just save up and do it. Everything you try to mask it with will start to fail over time. Or it's a great time to try and find a Brabus rocket front end
