do you like most MERCEDES or AMG sills ?
have these (original) chrome version, illuminated sills, still un-installed
help me decide which one

there is no evident luminescent film when you look at them from the exterior

yes, i think also the same but .. was tempted for M-B they are maybe nicer ..
indeed i bought those mercedes because I wanted to make them in carbon

when I first received them I thought << .. a mistake again.. they 've sent me the non illuminated version>> LOL
then I looked more attentively and indeed, while the exterior is chromed like the stock version, the back is a different material kind of transparent so, while a bit afraid of shorting something, I tried to connect a small battery to the high-voltage reactor and .. the amg writing appeared like a projection
.. really stealthy !
ok, i'll tell the installer to route cables and reactors to the rear sam
pity for the "Mercede-Benz" writing .. I think we don't have it anywhere ..
was even thinking at fitting the standind star on the hood !

I have the mercedes benz illuminated sills from the factory. They are awesome and everything loves them...to those not familiar with AMG might say...what is AMG? I like the ones I have and doubt I would change them for the AMG's.

no, the kit comes with cables and a module for high voltage (a reactor, like those used for neons) and you have to connect this wire to the rear SAM so that lighting will be matched with the whole system. therefore requires quite a bit of re-re work.

fact is that, as far as I understand, the 4 sills kit only includes the front ones as illuminated. it means that rears are nott available as illum.
This thing was not clear from the description so when I had to order mines I ordered the front kit.
Indeed i have never seen illuminated rears oem in chrome look (you can get them in brushed alu version but not chrome as far as I know).
I already thought at a way to mod fronts and fit to the rear so as to get all 4illuminated ....
The last oem thing I bought is the carbon gear lever .. too tired of badly made aftermarket carbon parts

It's pretty obvious which ones we are going to like the best... this is the AMG section after all.
Yes, I knew about the 2/4 chrome sills and I find it very odd from the AMG/MB accesories department to do this (also considering the price). Last time I checked these were running around 600 euros.
Post some pics when you are done. If you are a CF addict, you can always overlay the OEM ones. I have had plenty of good experiences going that route. Aftermarket stuff? Well, that's another topic.

for "aftermarket stuff" i indeed meant "overlay" and i have plenty of bad experiences ..
if you have a chance, just compare the two and you'll see a world of difference
